Hindley Arms - venue review

thanks to all who turned up

well what can I say, It was the first time I had played here and what a fantastic place it is...
Dee & Dave have got it absolutely spot on and they are fantastic hosts, I cannot praise them enough.
Right from the first song people were making lots of noise and dancing about and they didn't stop untill the end of the first set , and that was only for the free buffet lol (nice touch guys) second set was even better and I even had three YES THREE air guitarist rockin away in front of me to a bit of quo. And I even got told I could turn it up...BONUS !!!! lol

I won't harp on about the gig too much because its the hospitality of Dee & Dave and the punters that are the attraction here, I don't think I have ever been made to feel so welcome and it really warms the cockles to know that there are still places like this around, and for a sunday night straight after xmas 60+ people in says a lot about a place... well done you two , you are proper stars...

Big thanks also to Rick & Anne from 45's and Mike from lazy dog and Graham for braving the weather and turning up, its nice to see a venue being supported in such hard times.

for anyone yet to play thier first gig there you are in for a treat great host and punters, and for all that have played there you know what I mean........

All in all a fabulous night was had by all I think / hope ? lol ... Thanks for the opportunity to play at the hindley arms, it was a real pleasure and I hope that I will be back soon

and maybe we'll discuss that stand up bingo a little more ha ha ha...

@ dean casement trio for 1) saturday nights have been fully booked since last october for 2010. 2) your set list is is not for our crowd on a saturday, as for sundays we are just getting them up and running and we need bands to help and support us (where were you)

So you book the same bands week in week out doing the same stuff week in week out? As for our set list it changes from gig to gig half the time we dont even know what we're playin until we play it and trust me it does work!!! But who am I to argue with the if it aint broke dont fix it rule.... As for Sundays I do my nails and ensure my hareem of finely toned lady boys roll my cigars just the way I like them, so Sundays not a chance my darlings!!!

no over 40 different bands this year, not bad hey and a cancellation list of over 50. we put bands on to meet our 160 plus crowd (every week) happy. thats why we are strict what kind of music we put on. so for stopping in on sundays i take it you dont even support any venue when your not playing. thats why venues close down

Bloody hell I didn't realise the Hindley Arms are so grand on the scale of things, please accept my humble apologies..... Supporting venues I don’t think there is a venue that ‘The Trio’ has played that I have not formed some formed some kind of personal friendship with and as for supporting ‘the venue’ I and we have gone out on many occasions without being paid a penny to help drum up support and enthusiasm for the venue so don’t talk to me about support...... You do realise over the previous messages we've sent it could have been used constructively in which we could have discussed a potential set we could have played for you, not that it would have been needed as we'd have turned up seen the crowed gauged what they like and played it anyway... Odds are Im gonna get slated like crazy for this as Im sure some of your 160 plus crowed are on here, plus the over 40 bands you have a year and not to mention the cancellation list of over 50.... Shit, look at what you have made me do I’ve missed almost all of the first Coronation Street now. Anyway would have been lovely to have spoken to you at The Banner do at Xmas and I hope you enjoyed our set.

Dean Casement signing off

Much Love x

For what it's worth I think some bands need to sit back and look at their suitability for a given venue.

I don't think we would be compatible with the Hindley Arms or the Cricketers or a couple of the other rock venues on here. Why? Because the Landlords and Landladies KNOW THEIR AUDIENCE and what they like to listen to. Are we annoyed about it? HELL no. Where's the value in playing to an audience that isn't into what you play? The band and the venue loses.

I've only had the pleasure of talking to Dee and Dave once, but they are nice folks. Nice folks who know their market.

And no, "some bands" isn't aimed directly at DC. If it was I would say it.

Well said that man Mick. Wouldnt of thought for one minute that was even loosely directed at me. I'm dropping this now as I dont have the time, inclination nor interest to get in to any further debate or discussion with anybody on this subject.

I bid you all good luck in 2010

Bonjour for now

We had a great time on Sunday 3rd Jan 2010. Unbelieveable really considering the date. No doubt Dee and Dave know their audience, top people. Crowd super. Food and Beer (and pop!) smashing. Great pub. If I was local I'd be a regular. Good stuff and keep it up.
Steve-Chicken Run
p.s we're not offended in the slightest about not playing on Saturdays.
