tried midi-mole, midi zone amd of course..van basco

I'm looking for some quality midi files for the new project..(as well as a guitarist/singist...interested????) tried a few sites with varying results. Anybody know of a site offering top quality midis? I can now devote my whole time to getting this project up and running as I finished with the band this week (they wanted to do country/rock, country/blues..I didnt!).
All suggestions gratefuly recieved.
Kev.

Kev, I always use Van Basco as a search engine, (which is what it is), and then stumble across some really good sites. I don't know of one particular site that I could say is great for everything.
I should have a few bookmarked so will try and dig em out and let you know.

You can also import the midi's into Reason 4.0 and change the instruments to high quality ones.. I recently did the same for a couple of Rush tunes for a little project, the difference is absolutely astounding..

@ VLC,

That's exactly what we usually do. Find the tracks we want and take the best bits from several files, edit together and then change the instruments, (if required). We have done a fair few from scratch, but getting hold of the "Bare Bones" is much easier. I can't say we have EVER found one that han't needed tinkering with.

Heh heh, I actually found a really bad midi file for one of our songs in the set, I did exactly what you did.. Just take out all the crap (drums, guitars, other garbage), copy the layouts and instead of using the built-in combinators, I usually create a Thor synth and patch it up..

Then use Redrum to create a cowbell click.. Save both tracks seperately into Cubase, pan each one left and right.. Voila.. A perfect click track!

Absiolutely brilliant mate..

I'll upload a video of me doing Subdivisions by Rush (Bear in mind all I kept was the drums as the keyboards were a bit wrong)

cheers guys.. I have cubase and am copying the midi files into an audio project then using the vst instruments (blagged a load off my m8 who has a recording studio!). I generally use a Roland M-GS64 to play midi files through and some sounds are pretty good (keys, drums, particlarly) but some ( brass, guitars ) are pretty shoddy even with an industry standard sound module.
