Just doing a quick survey of where you NWB'ers buy your stuff from.

Just doing a survey of where you NWB'ers buy your stuff from.

I've had the dolphin music affiliate banner ad on the site for the past 4 years and not made one single sale/commission. (maybe you peeps don't think about clicking on it)

Just wondering where you NWB'ers make their musical purchases. Im in the mindset of trying to get some exclusive deals/partnerships set up.

Stores I use are..

www.stringsdirect.co.uk
www.gak.co.uk
www.amazon.co.uk

To be frank I can't recall having seen the Dolphin Banner, we have used ebay and loot also traditional methods such as trawling through shops new gear being the price it is. I would click on said banner though if I had seen it and known that's what it was!

hah! cheers folks - Yeah, I dont think its obvious that the Dolphin Music banner makes the site some ££. I could possibly get NWB memebers a special voucher code for dolphin music. Its something theyve aired to me in the past.

As for other stores. Amazon.co.uk has some great prices on lee oskar harmonicas and other accessories.

I use www.bookdepository.co.uk a lot for music based books. Especially guitar & bass tuition w/cds (excellent backing tracks), and artist biographies. Most are cheaper than Amazon, which I also use. MusicRoom.com has some good offers on now and again.... and you can't go wrong with Ebay for owt! That's were mi Hartke bass amp came from infact!

Musicroom.com/sheetmusicdirect.co.uk have some good tabs for 99p. Especially useful if you just want one or two songs from an album.

I've never seen P laugh as much as he did when he saw ''eh hem.. i already have one.. it erm... cost me a grand.....''

You should have left it a while... they've come right down in price, you can get one for £19.99 now!

You know how it is...they bring out a" Sponge Bob Square Pants Ukulele" they cleverly market it...as a 'must have' item, make you think you will be the last to own one!!! then before you know it you have gone and got a loan from Rob You Blind loans and you are the proud owner of a Sponge Bob Square Pants Ukulele... i bought all the stuff K-Tell ever promoted...whats that about a fool and his money??
But to the initial thread.. i bought my radio mike from I-Muso..

What? Dawsons Creek? more like Sh*t creek...We've also used thomanns 'int Germany it can take a few days but they are very proffessional(whoops spelling! watch out for Viking!), and although an amp had to go back it was replaced straight away without quibble! And I like quibble...

Awaiting feedback from Dolphin - Hopefully they'll be able to do NWB members some exlusive deals.

Are they planning to set up a uk base?
I sincerely hope they don't set up an operation in the uk. For one thing, their warehousing costs will go through the roof, as well as the cost of everything else in the UK, meaning their prices will more than probably go up.

Added an ebay link the other day, and NWB has made its first commission! 18p! Nice one!

Avatar

# Posted by Bat - 26/02/2009, 23:07 (GMT)

So, do you get commission only if the person who followed the link 'buys' from that site? Or do you get money for traffic?

Avatar

# Posted by mr.nwb - 26/02/2009, 23:09 (GMT)

Commission, only if you click through and buy something/win an item.

The cookie lasts for 7 days. I get a % of the sellers ebay fees. So its not a massif amount, but I know you nwb'ers use ebay quite a lot.

No probs! And these 'ads by google' underneath the comment box... do you get anything if i click them?

Avatar

# Posted by mr.nwb - 27/02/2009, 08:39 (GMT)

Yeah, just clicking the google ads makes some money. Its about 5p a click. But, you cant keep clicking on the same ad, as google knows which ones youve already clicked on. I think there's a 30 day cookie on it.

Avatar

# Posted by AndyBassOrGuitar - 27/02/2009, 09:39 (GMT)

Just clicked on all the ads .. I was after a new XLR-XLR mic lead, so had a gander at Dolphin Music. They didn't have any! :-(
Nevermind... At least you made 5p! :-) .. it all adds up!
I buy stuff from Ebay and Amazon, and so will try and remember to use your link next time.

I had a massive fall out with www.gak.co.uk recently, when we bought some 600w speakers that turned out to be 500w. We weren't even that bothered but I sent a very polite email pointing out that they should update the site, and if they would give us a small amount of credit note against future purchases for the inconvenience it would be much appreciated.

Instead, they took the site down, changed it, and then called me a liar.

On principle I wanted my money back and it took almost three weeks before they agreed to do it, and even then they expected me to pay the courier fees to send them back. I only got a full refund after I got trading standards involved.

Might just be a bad experience, but they obviously don't like to admit when they get it wrong!

thanks NWB - we're sorted now but I might just have a look when I get hom and off the web blocker and follow up with a snotty email anyway. I sent them the temporary files and screen prints of the original page and they said I'd rewritten the html, and photoshopped the screen print. I mean, who would go to that much effort for a few quid of credit notes?! Was an absolute joke and now I'm getting wound up again just thiking about it!

# Posted by Carbon Copies | Covers Band - 15/05/2009, 15:22 (GMT)

was Behringer Eurolive B-212 speakers

The original link was http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/behringer-b-212/70675

but the page doesn't exist anymore and they've stopped selling the speakers altogether (about 2 days after giving me the full refund).

My boyf has bought loads of stuff off them and never had a problem, but I was genuinely shocked at their complaints procedure and inability to admit to a mistake!

i looked at the google cache page, and it deffo says 600W. So youve got a good case there.

I'll PM you the link, so you can forward it to GAK

LOL I did email them back, but I doubt I'll hear anything back. At least I now have the moral highground so thanks for that :) I know for a fact I won't be buying anything from em again, and I'd watch yourselves too - they go to great lengths to cover their backs if they mess up!!!

Here's my reply in case you're vaguely interested...

Hi guys.

I know this situation was resolved of a fashion back in March, but I still never got over your complete unwillingness to admit that you were wrong AND you went to the lengths of accusing me of forging html files.

A friend told me today about this amazing website that checks the Google cache to let you know if a website has been changed.

And guess what! You’ll never believe it. It shows that your website DID in fact state the speakers to be 600w.

http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:NZnGsd_akbAJ:www.guitarampkeyboard.com/.../70675&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk

Amazing stuff! Shame you lost out on £200 and a lot of future business out of pure stubbornness really.

Is there even a remote possibility that in the face of undeniable proof you can finally admit to being wrong? I wait in eager anticipation.

We have used most of the above stores (GAK, Thomman, Ebay etc..).
We also used a firm based in Lancaster to buy an Mp3 player (rack mount) back in Feb. It was faulty on arrival but when we sent it back they contested this and told us that they would refund us minus a tenner for 'restocking'. BTW we have an electronics engineer and two electricians in the band - it was bloody knackered! That aside we are still waiting for the refund now! Do NOT use Soundsavers!!

I use Gear4music.com a lot, they do a full range of stuff from their own cheapo brands right throught to Fender and Gibson, same applies to PA, guitar, accessories, they do the lot really, th prices are always decent and they are very quick.
