What's the ONE song that means more to you than any other?

And why?

What's the one song that means more to you than any other? And why? Not necessarily your favourite song or the one song you couldn't live without.

Any song. Any genre. Any reason. It could be the first song you bought, your first break up song, your first wedding dance song, the first song you learned. Anything, but it must have some kind of attachment or story behind it.....and it would be nice if you could share the reason with the song (but don't feel you have to if it's too personal)

Mine would be Here's Where The Story Ends by The Sundays. For two reasons. It was the record found on my older brothers stereo after he passed away and later on, it was used as the soundtrack to a video of my days at university created by one of my housemates. Whenever I hear it now, it brings back lots of memories.

Great song Time stand still.. With Aimee Mann on BV's as well!

@King Fist: Kim Mitchell used to be the frontman for Max Webster and all good friends of Geddy, Neil and Alex from Rush as they did Battlescar...

Nothing particularly sentimental or of any significant emotional weight for me but:

The Chameleons - Second Skin, home of the greatest key change ever recorded and also inspired me to have a real go at learning a musical instrument. Shows me what bunch of ordinary Middleton lads could do if they put their minds to writing music and still sends shivers down my spine.

Fading Lights by Genesis.

When my youngest daughter Emily was born we nearly lost her as she has Hydrocephalus. ( water on the brain) and this was on my cd player on all those drives to Alder Hey for the first month of her life.

Still gets me everytime I have to sing it live.

Best wishes

John

Chrissie Perfect - I'd Rather go Blind.

I have absolutely no idea why as there are no memories attached other than meeting her along with the rest of the band during the 71 blues festival at Windsor. Just hits my emotional weak spot every time.

Ok I suppose there are three and for different reasons:

'Always On My Mind' Pet Shop Boys version - that was around at the time my Gran passed away
'If You Leave Me Now' by Chicago reminds me of a traumatic time in my teens
and the old song 'Smile'covered by Eric Clapton on an old 10" RSO sampler LP , don't know why but it always brought a lump to my throat....

I have 2

first is Power of Love by Jennifer Rush, first dance with Darren nearly 23 years ago, twas love at first sight.

second is Indian Love Song by Slim Whitman, grandma & grandad used to sing this to each other with a bit of impro and she always said she would play it at his funeral, which probably looked really bad when we all started sniggering in the crem at the family joke. Can no longer watch Mars Attacks without getting a lump in my throte.
