How's your year going so far?

post-christmas slump? new year joy?

We're well into 2010.....scary.

How have the bands faired after the hazy christmas is over?
Are you finding venues still as mad for it as ever?
Are the crowds down as people are skint?

We haven't gigged much in 2010, although we did just do a great one last Sat, infront of about 200+ people. Apart from that, we've been pretty lazy and need to get our act together. Saying that though, we're leaving March becuase we've got a big gig at the ACE centre on the 27th so we dont wanna cram too many gigs in, we need a good turn out.

It seems like we've been had with bad luck recently - We've had to turn a pub gig down due to personal un-avaliability (i.e - one of us is unavaliable) which we dont like doing and was offered a little mini festival slot which we couldnt do, again because of personal un-avaliability - the drummers in the states then so we dont have an excuse!

then the only date we could get into the studio in march, turns out theres something else on that day which rules me out.

its one of those sods law moments where we're avaliable for weeks and weeks, and then on a day we get offered something, we're not able to do it. We have 5 in the band, so thats 5 lives we have to work around.

thats a little rant over from me. not really getting down about it because we're booking gigs at the minute and theres talk of us going on the radio, our facebook page has just got 320 members so its all good.

so.....how's your 2010 shaping up??

Early Jan is always quiet....
We only played dedicated Music pubs cos we know from experience that 'normal' pubs are quiet until pay day.....
Last weekend, first after pay day, was great.....busy with people having their first 'blow-out' since christmas.....

August is always quiet too.....kids off school, summer holidays, Festivals etc.....

Hope this credit crunch ends soon.....

It's going well. We (Whatever!) have been really busy since August last year. 2009 ended really well for us and the calendar for 2010 is full (save for a couple of weekends) through to the end of June.

The venues continue with the eternal struggle to keep music live and keep trading at a profit and we're doing our bit. Fees are down 20% on this time last year (roughly) but we take the good times with the bad. We have a respect for the venues and in return we get a fair deal from most of our regular landlords.

Got a few wedding bookings too.

So far I give 2010 an 8/10. Aiming for a 9 by the end of the year.

Done ok for bookings, only a couple more dates to fill for this year, but we only play once a month.Just have to hope we don't lose any more venues. Lost 5 gigs since oct due to closures.

Very well, thanks! Done 5 gigs in January and it looks as though this could be our busiest year ever, even with our guitarist's busy overseas holiday schedule!.. Also, enjoying watching a lot of bands on the night's we are not playing.

Looking forward to ending a full calender year with the same bassist we started it with for the first time since we started this band. So far we've already had some damn good gigs and looking forward to more coming up soon.

It's been marmite for us. Some of my best gigs ever and 2 absolutely deserted gigs. Nothing in between - the good venues are doing well, the average ones are all struggling. Punters round here are voting with their feet.
