What's your opinion?

Should Private Functions/Gigs be added to the gig guide?

Is it best to let people know you are busy that night or is it frustrating for those looking for a gig to go to, then finding out its a private one!!!

Depends what you are using the gig Guide for. I am not aware of any rules around it so whatever works for you.
Not everyone uses it anyway, so it is personal choice.

i think its best to put it on...weve had a few calls in past, from our own web page, when we havnt listed gigs cos of private do's and then got calls to do a venue..at least if they know ur busy or Not Available (hols etc..) it saves em a fone call when they could be chasing someone else

I suppose Venues can use it to see what dates bands are free?

I always list the gigs so a person/venue can see we're out ....cos sometimes it looks like yr fobbing them off when they ask you do do a date thats not on the list !!!

I agree...list everything. A gig is a gig is a gig...the guide is not only for folk wanting to see you but as said above, venues can check availabillity and maybe the 'private function' people would like to see your are serious about turning up lol.

We don't put private gigs on, though I suppose if we put PRIVATE FUNCTION, (town) it builds your CRP and lets people know you're out anyway.

If a venue gets a cancellation and tries to get 'your' band to fill the gig they'll see you're already booked.....saves the venue time and let's everyone know your playing somewhere....
Makes sense to me.
I've had venues ring me and want to book LGIT because they've looked at our gig guide and seen no gig booked on a certain date...usually cos I'm working nights.....
So best to log all your gigs.
Also, it shows people you are happy to book a private function, an extra string to your bow...

@ Karen, you would make a wonderful stand up chameleon !

We put on our Private functions, Charity Doos AND when we are not available. It gives the complete picture of your activity and availability,

Rick.

I think that it is very important to announce all gigs all of the time and to be honest about the amount of gigs that you get.

@The Cottonhouse Shakers
But we do, though of course we do them all for free (just to help out the ailing venues, of course).
