R.I.P Tony Boardman. Glass Barrel content

A smile and a pause for thought.

If any of you played at the Glass Barrel in tyldesley, you will remember Tony the cook.

Ex Merchant Navy rocker that could fix you up with a burger or a curry and was always testing his recipes on bands. Lamb Henry in a biker pub? Hard act to follow.

Tony lost his battle with cancer today. He'll be missed.

R.I.P. T-bone.

Jesus Mick , what a shocker ! i only jad contact with him a few days ago on our facebook site ,we had some blinding nights at the barrell as you know ehh ?

That's why I said pause for thought Trig. Tony was old school. No pissing, moaning or winding folks up. Just a genuinely nice guy who loved people and bands and loved cooking for them.

I'll genuinely miss that gnarly old fucker. :o)

Last tme we spoke he did tell me about it but was confident of a recovery, now i feel even more awfull as he had a bit of a do a while back and i got an invite but couldnt go due to gigging.
So so sad !

He had a great sense of humour. Came out of hospital and decided on 2 birthdays a year. We we're scheduled in next time. Man I wish we could have played for him one more time.

Sad to hear i got a text off John(GB landlord) with the sad news ...only one prob who's gonna do the buffet at his funeral ???? (its ok its not in bad taste we joked about it with Tony !!)

We will all miss tony,i think everybody who gigged at the barrel looked forward to the post gig banquets(and chips).like Mick said he was old school never a bad word for anybody.he always cheered me up every time i was in the barrel R.I.P. MATE we will all miss you..WAZ
