A couple of songs from a couple of bands

semi review, only saw a few songs from each

decided last minute to go check out a couple of bands playing local. First up, Lazy Dog at the Wheatsheaf in Coppull. Not a busy night as they're testing the water for Saturdays but an appreciative crowd nontheless. Caught the first 5 numbers of the second set, a cracking sound folks and very well balanced. To be constructive, I must admit they seemed to be going through the motions a little with no banter with the audience at all but the playing was excellent. A good mix of old and recent songs to cater for all tastes. I'm sure with a full house these guys will open up a little more and enjoying themselves as we all know it is difficult to motivate oneself with a half empty pub. I'm not having a dig at all, just being constructive I hope.
Then to the Barons Rest in Chorley to check out Sabre. Again, not overly busy but a decent appreciative audience. Very Very tight set with one of the stand in gobbists, it breaks my heart that such a cracking set of musicians can't seem to get a full time singer. They are all a belting set of lads with a good set played very well indeed. Any vocalists looking for a good quality band with plenty of gigs lined up, give them a shout.....you'd be mad not to.
We're not gigging for a few weeks now so I hope to get out to catch a few more of you crazy kids. Anyone who want an honest unbaised review (of sorts), no matter what genre, give me a shout.
Peace out
Mark

Hi Mark,We(The Ascension)have a gig, this Thursday,Thirsty Scholar,Manchester city centre. Also in attendance, will be the rather wonderful Mr Heart. We'd welcome any review/feedback,or even just your prescence. Can't promise any "classic rock" or"classic punk"(oxymoron?)and definitely no tribute of any kind, but it will be
something else(what?..who knows).

Hey you,Dresden-boys,you're more than welcome to come on down ,make your prescence known.Anyone who covers the Ruts and Wire is pretty cool with us.This is original music, like it or not,it's 6 boys 'n' girls doing what they believe in.

Thanks for the review Mark, (though I only found out who you where after you had gone ! )

The crowd was pretty small, but they loved it and kept us entertained as we did them - totally enjoyed it,

I'll have a chat next time.

regards Mark (drummer)

as for the bandit thing......make out that you need the socket for lights (seperate circuit bollox) when setting up. Easily baffles most bar staff lol
