Not a sales pitch.

I have been using my Spector Bass for about 12 months now....and I am Very Very happy with it. However, being in a GnR tribute, I have decided to get myself the Duff McKagan signaure Fender P/J.

To help finance this I made the decision to sell the Spector......but I couldn't identify the model from the Spector website so I sent them an email with some photo's of it and asked what they could tell me about it.

This is their reply:

hello -

thanks for the email and pic. I am glad you
are enjoying your Spector bass!

this is an original design version of what has now become
the Legend4 Custom made in our Korean factory from 2004.
This was made slightly earlier, 2002/2003.
Think of it as a bolt-on version of our current model
Euro4LX

I hope this info helps!

myspace.com/spector_instruments
facebook.com/spector.bass

Which gives me the info I asked for....but doesn't help whatever with the valuation of it!!!
The Legend 4 Custom models made in Korea retail at around $1000
Whilst the Euro4 LX model made in the Check Republic reatail at around $2000/2500.

From what they have said above, mines seems to fit with Legend model (being the design model) but they also say think of it as a version of the Euro4 ????

Confused or what!!!!!!!

Here's the pics I sent them:

So what sort of price should I be looking for for this? anyone help?

As an ex-Spector owner, I may be able to shed some light.
Spector have 3 ranges of Basses.
The US NS series,(Very Expensive)
The Czech Euro and Rebop, (Expensive) and
The Korean Legend.

The NS and Euro are both neck-through models, so you can't really compare to them.
The Czech Rebop is a bolt-on neck and that is what the Legend is based on. Although being made in Korea it is at the more inexpensive end of the Spector range. All Spectors share the same body design and this is where PJ is making the comparison, although you can't compare a Legend with a Euro LX.
Here is a Legend Classic FS on BassChat for £175 including postage.

This isn't a Custom but is the same range and Custom's are around £500 new.
Looking at yours, however, it looks like the pre-amp has been changed. The Legend comes with Spectors "Tone-Pump" pre-amp which is a 2-Band Treble/Bass Boost-Only system. Yours clearly isn't that one. Looks like a 3-band jobby judging by the "stack-control".
I would say it would probably fetch £200 - 300 on a good day. Still an awful lot of bass for the money.
Just drop me a PM if you want any more info.

Didn't Duff play a Fender Aerodyne Jazz in GnR days? You could pick one of those up for little more than the Spector would fetch.
A nice black one with white binding. - Lush

I think thats what he started out with but he went on to the 'Custom' P/J by the use your illusion tour.
Fender Precision body with a Jazz neck...black hardware, no scratch plate and a mix of P and J pickups....he mainly used either a pearl white one or a black one....with the 'original' "no fear" stickers on it lol.
