your total absolute hero guitarist

one only allowed!!

youre only allowed to list one and one only, ive had to stop my fingers typing lots of runners up on here

from many many guitarists for me its gotta be

Brian May

hes the one who made me wanna play guitar like an absolute loon yet be melodic and play for the song while hopefully making it sing and scream , any time i hear his playing its hairs on the back of the neck stuff every single time

years ago i had a very nice and humbling comment from a friend of mines dad
he said he could tell i'm a big fan of Brian May when he heard me doing a gig, ( id spent most of that summer learning a lot of the guitar parts from Greatest Hits 2), thats one of the best and nicest compliments ive ever had :-)

Brian Harold May what a legend!!!

i could watch the Queen Live At Wembley dvd every single day all day

I have a Brian May guitar Rob. :o)

Of all the players I could say, even the man that made me take up guitar (Bernie Torme) I have no hesitation in saying Nuno Bettencourt is the one player that is my ultimate guitarist.

Yngwie J Malmsteen. Why? Far beyond the sun, demon driver, baroque and roll, watching him blow sach and vai offstage at the G3 rocking in the free worl jam. The guys a monster

Tony Auton I remember the first time i seen him I felt like goin home and learning to play again and it totally changed the way I look at the guitar......... If we're not allowed real players I'll go for someone like Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray.

For me it all started with TONY IOMMI.

Great players listed above though: Sykes/May/Rhoads/Schon all excellent in different ways. I could list 100 guitarists/bassists that I enjoy listening to.

Michael Angelo Batio, His technique is insane and his tone is almost impossible to achieve. He is so underated as a guitarist, but check him out if you havent heard him, he is amazing !

Brian Downey made me want to play drums, but Joe Satriani made me want to actually listen to the guitar as an instrument in its own right. Seen him live twice and absolutely blew me away.

For me it would have to be Billy Duffy from the Cult (and a local Wythenshawe lad to boot). Not the most technically gifted player, but man the guy comes up with riffs that most other guitarist would kill for.

Just a short clip as I know that there aren't many jazz fans on here hehe. I challenge anyone to say that this is not increbible playing considering the man's disability.

This guitar player blew my mind when I saw him play live. Can play a number of different styles and with a huge amount of charisma. The rockabilly stray cat 'Brian Setzer'.
