Classic Rock good when used right!!

Change of mind me thinks

Having blasted the Classic Rock scene on here for closing venues and being satans poison of choice I am making a U turn of sorts.
We (WHATEVER) played a great venue last night where the average age was over 40 and to be fair we did throw in there some old school classic rock - Bad Company etc to keep the audience interested. We scrapped the Arctics and the Enemy for them but it was right and proper due to them not knowing who they were. I didnt think a Back to the Future moment was needed.

It worked, we blasted off the inide stuff were good at in the second set with some Beatles and Rolling Stones for good measure and it was a great gig. We have got the old ladies classic just in case Mustang Sally, Valerie and there always good. But we have tried Cant Get enough of your love before in our Indie venues with the Lead Balloon effect but this time it was the right venue and crowd to use the classic.

I have been harsh at times but when used correctly and not sticking to norm it works, I still believe its a dying genre but must admit it helped us out last night so apologises - to a point.

But dont get me started on that Punk crap........................................couldnt resist. ( LGIT lets hear it???)

there's only three types of band though isn't there, really? - brilliant, average and shite

(apart from The Fall, who seemed to combined brilliant AND shite simultaneously)

I went to see Vera Cruz last night at the White Hart - and they're a really good band - that's all most people want, I think... a band who can do the job well. I reckon if you sound like you can deliver the goods, most punters will give you a chance, even if you're not really their fave style

So..... somebody aged 40 today must have been around 21 back in 1991. It amazes me how many people nicked their parents' records back then instead of buying some of their own, lol.

....It might only die as a genre when something decent comes along to replace it instead of rehashed punk shite like the monkeys and greenday. But even thats highly unlikely. There are a lot of rockabilly bands playing around at the moment and that stuff is basically 50 years old

actually 60 years old if we start counting around 1950, I know, time flies.....I have never been too keen on punk tbh; however there are loadsa more than just classic rock. I have played classic rock for ages and I still do; you're right by saying it helps out, it actually does! If you think it's a dying genre, have a listen to Airbourne or The Answer, they're new classic rock bands.

Its not what you play its the way you play it. Having said that we play Classic Rock and have an average age of well over 200 and still get plenty of youngsters watching us who know and love the stuff we play.
Im not convinced anybody will remember the Artic Monkeys in 20 years time but I bet ACDC and the Stones are still getting air play.
Sorry boys but I think its here to stay.
Long Live Rock!!!

Classic Rock, just like classical music (and loads of other 'genres') is here and here to stay. Maybe some of todays tunes will eventually become the Classic rock standards of the future, who knows.

Artic Monkeys? Hmmmm I know of Siberian tigers and Snow Leopards but monkeys in the Artic, your kidding me ain't you LOL
Ooooh The Band Artic Monkeys, Almost forgotten about them Heh Heh

Maybe when you grow up you'll give Punk music a bit more respect....
Just check how many 'non punk' bands on here play music by Sex Pistols, Clash, Buzzcocks, Undertones etc.....
Or are you too busy playing on your x-box.....mate.

LGIT while I was playign my xbox you were trawling my bands sites nothing like advertising even if its negative. But yeah you bit knew you would .I love Punk in places but must admit the sheeple thing is wrong. I would rather play the Buzzcocks and Understones with a touch of the Sex pistols than an obscure album track. Due to us not being a Punk band and not advertised as that slipping some in our set just to prove we can play them as good as any Punk band will do me. If we were a Punk band then yeah non Sheeple songs must go in as the core fans will hopefully have a knowledge of Punk.

On a side note Sheeple is a shit word!!!!

Just going back to my xbox SON!!!1 HAHAHA

Mate
Sheeple is a word I use to describe the flock mentality of the masses....you know, the ones who laugh at a joke they didn't get just to 'fit in'.....the ones who can't think for themselves.....they just follow the lead like good little sheep.....
If you don't like the word then as an alternative you can use MORONS.....
I gotta come and see Whatever soon, so you can show me how to play Punk....HA.
Cheers SON.

Hey Gary, I'm not sure I agree with your "classic" punk credentials now that I've seen you've got Ever Fallen In Love, Eton Rifles and I Fought The Law in your set!?! Sheeple tunes if ever there were any?

Ha ha ha, keep up the good work fella! When are you gigging on the right side of the penines??
