LOL...right with you on he first two! if I was to pick a Mayall one i'd go for Crusade or maybe even Blues Alone.
I'd have to pick the Magic Slim & Teardrops album with Wonder Why on it...and just cos it has this track..Savoy Brown Blues Matters....however there's so many Jimmy Reed at Carnegie Hall, Blind Willie McTell Library of Congress sessions,Sleepy John Estes album where the back cover features an interview with himand states they had to have a break because he fell asleep LOL
So many greats, but if I had to pick one...it would be The Willie Dixon Hits album which features all them great Chess stars.
Here's the Savoy Brown track...sends chills down my spine...and I even remember exactly where I bought it and where I was when I first heardit...stunning...some great memories on the video of this too!

I agree with you Night Train, Crusade's a cracker. Mick Taylor was an awesome guitarist.

Folk Singer - Muddy W
In Step - Steve Ray Vaughan
Cold Snap - Albert Collins
Live at the Kite Club - Norman Beaker Band
Midnight Stroll - Robert Cray
The Healer - John Lee Hooker
Harmony Row and Songs for a Tailor - Jack Bruce (OK, not strictly blues, but good enough)

only one?

I thought that the blues collection cds were great...anyone remember them? you used to get a mag and a cd.

Favourite blues album has to be a Muddy Waters' compilation album recorded in the late 70's (or early 80's) featuring Jerry Portnoy on the gob iron. Re-recordings which were something else .....including this one-
