any body use them ?

Hi all, New poster here so go easy !!

new(ish) band too but maybe more of that later

Just wondered if any bands out there use in ear monitoring and if so if you have any tips, do's don'ts etc

anyone know if its possible to go for a mix...ie say lead singer using them but others not or is it better to get the whole band on them and do away with floor monitors altogether... if you do try both can one interfere with the other... we have three aux outs free on the desk so we have the potential at least to do both if its possible

any help/views gratefully received

My old band used in ear. we used 2 floor monitors for the drummer and bass plaer, whilst the keyboard and singer used in ear. they never had any problems with interfearance. Id say it all depends on the musician with floor and in ear and which they prefer, and in terms of mix, i presume its just like a normal monitor mix

I use them, they are brilliant, cant believe I idnt use them before. Clear as crystal, comfortable sound level, don't go home with my ears buzzing these days.
They take a little getting used to but worth it.

If the full band is going thro the mix, just give yourself a full mix as you like it using one of the AUX.

For gigs where we dont put the backline thro the mixer, I put a mic out front somewhere just to get the ambient sound and then mix this with the vocals in my ears. Also do this for practising.

Cheers

I always seen to have more trouble hearing my own vocals than anything else. Is this the case for anyone else? the other lads alays complain the monitor vocal mix is WAY too high, but its fine for me!

I use V-drums in one of the bands I play with and we all use in-ears. I love em! It takes a little getting used to and as DrummerBoy says, putting a mike up to capture the room/audience sound really helps you feel more 'connected' as you tend to feel a bit isolated without this. Obviously you don't send this Mic out the front of the PA though, just the in-ears! ;o)

I usually setup a 'band' mix and a 'me' mix and run these to a small mixer within arms reach, so I can balance the two on the fly to get monitoring bliss....ahh.... :o)
