Me 'n' Ryan's post-Fix endeavour

with demo clips too (woo)

for anyone who might be interested (probably not many :) )

Ryan and I are forming a new band with a gentleman from Burnley by the name of Simmy. Simmy used to be the lead singer & guitarist in Burnley band Pretend Girlfriend... PG split up last December, and I was tipped off by a mutual friend that the Simster himself was looking to sort out a new band... I leapt on the chance because I've seen him in action & was really impressed... he also wrote the songs for Pretend Girlfriend, so we've got a songwriter on board too

Simmy is bringing a guitarist pal of his down next week, because we want 2 guitarists in

We don't have a name yet

The plan at the moment is to do half covers & half originals, so we can go out and support bigger bands with an originals set, but also play pubs etc and do half & half... there was (maybe still is) a good Burnley band called Columbia, who used to do this & it worked well for them

it's not going to be like The Fix.. we want it to be heavier with bigger guitars, and we're going to try & stand out from most other bands out there by trying to do more with the vocal harmonies

bands we're taking influence from: Oasis, The Beatles, The Wildhearts, Sex Pistols, Foo Fighters

anyway, we've put a couple of DEMO snippets of some of our new tunes together so you can hear where we're coming from (including a couple I wrote for The Fix which I gather were not universally liked :P )

thanks to everyone who wished us well when the Fix went tits-up... it meant a lot when we were pretty down about it all... but we're definitely NOT giving up rockin and hope to see you soon

sounds bloody good to me! i like the harmonies - it's the sort of thing i'd like to more of with the north, but we have so little time to rehearse (excuses excuses!)

Good luck anyhoo!

Fookin' hell boys - sounds amazing. Good look with the project (not that I think you'll need it).

I'd like to put forward 'Who needs Jim' as your band name, 'cos you've only gone and 'fixed' it yourselves!

i've actually heard music of lesser quality than that on the radio-that's how good it is-great mix. damn good harmonies and the "guitar sound" is very "today" (and nothing wrong with that at all!!). :-D

Can't wait to have you on at the Welly, have also seen Simmy and he is very good, much better than he was at football as a spotty teenager ;)

You've gotta keep 'ode to No 5 St Johns Road' that PG did tho, just cos it was an absolute class song, and took me back to the good old days.

cant access the demo, send a new link thats not peter kay!

yeah we do originals and covers, as mentioned above. its your best bet if you want to do paid gigs and still play your own stuff. we did an hours set of originals on saturday night, and a week on friday we'll be doing half and half. works well.

personally im glad you're going to have a bigger sound. the fix was a bit too pop for me. as long as there's no 'i predict a riot' or 'teenage kicks' in sight i'll deffo come to your gigs!

we were asked to play on the last gig of pretend girlfriend, at the attic, but i was on holiday. never did get chance to see them.
stick a new demo up!
