'The Perils of rock n roll decedence'

The good bits.
pretty decent venue.

Nice stage area....plenty of room for a 5 piece without being 'squashed' in. Stage is a little narrow so drums tend to fill it a bit but loads of room either side of them.
Good parking out front for loading/unloading etc.
Good Landlady and staff...very helpful and friendly.

We started our gig a little later than we had hoped....about 9:45 as the place was pretty empty and we were 'holding out' for a few more punters.....it never happened though unfortunately!

Our first couple of tunes weren't too good as the rythym guitar had technical issues and we couldn't seem to find any volume for the vocals.....strange as the sound check an hour earlier was good and everything worked and sounded fine????
Isn't it weird how things can change all on their own between sound check and starting the gig? never will understand it.

Anyway, sorted the issues and the gig went well ater that and the 'crowd' showed some great appreciation.

The bad bit.
Place was bloody empty!....couldn't have been more than 20 pople in despite all the advertising we had done. I suppose it didn't help too much that I had dropped off 8 posters the week before but there was only 1 put up in the pub!....I do wish some venues would do a little more to promote the bands they have on....it's for their benefit too at the end of the day and the posters we supply actually do cost money!!!!! (rant over)

Going by all my paperwork.....initial contact sheet with the venue, my PC entries and 'the diary' entries I made, the payment for the gig was set at XXX. However we were paid XX below this? Now dont get me wrong, I am not saying we were ripped off or anything but it seems strange that I had written the 'agreed' price down in three seperate areas wrongly!!!!.....I must pay more attention to what I'm doing eh!

So, to sum up....

A good venue to play in the sense of setting up etc.....too few punters and not 'promoted' enough by the venue....payment discrepencies.

It's only rock n roll....BUT I LIKE IT.

Keep us posted, please!

The woman I spoke to when I was taking our bookings really sounded a bit confused by it all.

I am not going there if they turn out to be ripping bands off. Neither, I suspect, will most of us.

we played a few weeks ago - sounds similar to the above - very few punters - no posters up (apart from a hand written sign declaring travellers aren't welcome due to 'conflict' ) and no idea of times on / off etc - apparently they were waiting for the 'bikers' to turn up.......maybe they've got lost ?????
