feckin awesome.............................

Apologies for the delay in posting..........kids banned me from any work yesterday lol.

Really don't know where to start with this one as I can honestly say we are all still buzzing from The feckin Big Fishs' gig on Saturday........and boy has it caused me major dilemas!!!!!!

The pub started filling up at 7pm with people wanting to see the band (normally this doesn't happen until around 9.30 -10.00pm), by 8.00pm there wasn't a spare seat in sight and we had to shuffle through the standing customers!!!!! Customers were buzzing and joining in the fun of 'the sound checks'.........the atmosphere was fantastic!!!!! The band started around 9.00pm and played right through until after midnight (with a few breaks in between ofcourse), as far as the customers were concerned this WAS an Irish band - no-one would have thought any different or known this was the 1st Irish set they had played...........truly professional and fantastic musicians. Customers were buzzing the whole night and the atmosphere just got better and better.

All night I was faced with coments like 'this is more like it', 'you need to get more bands on like this' etc etc etc..........and these comments were still flying around the pub today! And to be honest, I have never seen the pub with such a fantasic atmosphere in the 3 years we have been there...........which does cause us a bit of dilema as we are now having to consider whether the bands we have on are too heavy for the majority of customers who would come to our pub..........it's going to be a very tough decision but after The Big Fishs' performance and the atmosphere created, we have to make the right decisions for the business and customers alike.

Apart from the dilema we are in.......I can't thank the guys enough for such a fantastic night and a big thanks to NWB as if I hadn't put the blog on for an Irish band for Paddys, I would probably have never had the joy of seeing The feckin Big Fish...............

Luv an hugs xxx

I sterted one song with "twiddly tap" in me head ... unfortunately Johnny drummer has "Twapply Tid" in his!!! We eventually met when we got to the shitty shoe!

Massive thanks for the review Jackie ... as I said before we had a great night - aided and abetted by DaveyFiddle's romantic interludes!! hehe

Now then - all you venues out there - take heed of Jackies words and make this the year of theFish!!

Cheers
Willow

Oh .. and don't forget this Weds we do it all over again at The Hindley Arms, Market St, Hindley!!

Lol, yeah think me an Liz started off something the same but ended up with shitty dance and lack of breath.....got to hand it to FiddlyDave....oops I mean DaveyFiddle & the most talked about romance of the pub hehe.....

Other venues.....can't recommend this band enough! Guaranteed to have a fantastic night and an atmosphere that just gets bigger and better by the minute....Oh and did I mention that the tills never stopped all night either and we hit targets for the illuminations (our best time of the year whereas we are in our quietest time at mo).....get them booked in before they're fully booked!!!!!

No to the blog poster. However in response to a past blog from you - did you end up playing The Fields of Athenry?

Most people are ok with it and those who aren't usually let you know early enough. This time of year though you'll not have any probs.

Must admit I always dread when FOA gets played - although I think I know when I can play it and when I can't (depending on what customers are in etc) there's always that wee bit of doubt...yet Saturday was a total mixed bag of cutomers but because the atmosphere was so good, there wasnt one comment passed about the song being played....willowwindemova.......it also helps that me an hubby kick from da opposite foot/feet (fek knows if that the roite saying but hey ho lol) so we don't stand any shit and the majority of customers know that lol,so its only them we dont know that we need keep our eye on......I still love the song cos am a soft sentimental hormonal wumen lol (ok but it sounds beta than menopausal)!!!!
