This video was used as early propaganda against the use of canabis. It is very funny, but the strangest thing is - some people still believe it. Anyway, not getting into that one! LOL

I played at The Workhouse Festival a few years ago and Met Nick Turner backstage. He was really sound and if we hadn't have been an Irish band he would have played sax with us later that night on stage......bollocks!!

The very dirst gig I went to was Hawkwind at Preston Guild Hall ! I just remember lots of people shuffling round crooning "Haaaaaawkwiiiiind maaaaaaan!", lots of cannabis smoke and the most blinding pulsating lights in the entire universe!

I remember the 70s. 3 day week, power cuts, Long Life ale, spangles, flares, platforms, sideburns, Susan Stranks, Lesley Judd, bubble perms, Old Spice.....god, it was great!!!! No Jordan, no celebrity culture bollocks, no mobile phones and women were still in the process of burning their bras. Take me back!!!!

"your android replica is playing up again..ahh its no joke when she comes she moans someone elses name" what a lyric!

love that song even though i only came across it last year.

I remember those power cuts,we had a caravan on the driveway so my dad connected up to the car to charge the battery and we could watch the TV while everyone else was in the dark haha what year was that?

@BigFish
Not sure about Fingerbobs, I remember the presenter being a hairy spaced-out hippy called Yoffy (aka Rick?). Used to give me the creeps.

Stranksy used to present Magpie and Paperplay and she give me my first semi, so to speak.

To keep the thread musical, I also remember these scary buggers - Animal Kwackers:

I have 25 years on 12" grey vinyl by Hawklords.. Wonder if it's worth anything?

First band I ever saw live Hawkwind.. 1985 in the Liverpool Empire :)

Absolutely love this though...

Born in 1970 so most of the decade was all about the Wombles for me.

....actually, so were the 80's.....what can I say, I really liked the hook lines.....

....leaving now....

my most favorite years of my life so far have been 1967 and 1972 musically at least that is, good music good times, safe to go almost anywhere, and I had the energy and health to do almost anything, I`ve got all the hawkwind albums too, however two of my favorite albums then was close to the edge by yes and darkside of the moon pink floyd.

Got to agree with Mr rails 1967 through to 75 were totally 'far out' in many respects. I was fortunate in that I was able to meet and in some instances work with bands that went on to become masters of their art.
If you guys still fancy recapturing that rush you got watching listening to Hawkwind , try Earthling Society (They are on Myspace) or even better catch their gig at Jenks Bar in Blackpool on the 27th of this month. Its a 1AM start mind. Their is am NWB link inasmuch as Luis (Dyehouse) is their Bass Player.
I will be there. Kaftan,Afghan waistcoat, beads oooh and trilby lol

king crimson, afghan coats and hot pants (as worn by the females of the tribe)all in a dark smoky room, cream,, purple, sabbath, atomic rooster, zep, taste, mountain, -i could go on and on and on.........
amazing times.until it all ground to an abrupt halt around 1975/6, with a few exceptions, and turned into commercialised, advertising executive paying,sanitised sheeple (thanks, lgit!) fodder.

@Viking

Give me a venue near you, and lets turn the clock back to a time when Music was the greatest adventure.Those really where the greatest of years, sadly expunged by the very banal monotony we strived to destroy

@ keef-ah-i wish-i once wrote a thesis on the culture change from around that time-was about the powers that be scared witless of the power of the music and the people's unwillingness to be force fed a "lifestyle" anymore-they soon put a stop to that, didn't they?-BUT!!! they failed in one respect-the music lives on and thrives!!
