Problems with your Elbow

Anyone experienced this I dont seem to be able to get rid of it

I have developed a problem with my elbow and not sure if it caused by playing the guitar or lifting equipment. The problem is just under the side of my elbow bone on my forearm and is aggrevated when lifting anything. Suggests that its lifting equiment but not really sure because i have never had any problems lifting weights in the gym so I dont know if its caused by movement of the elbow joint and now its being strained when i lift anything. Anyone experienced this problem I have had it about 6 weeks now and its quite painful

More than likely playing Guitar mate.. I get it now and then myself in my right arm after playing..

It's like a repetitive strain injury or Tennis Elbow

Sounds like it may be tennis elbow, micro tears in the ligaments, I have the problem at the moment, common in drummers apparantly. I have just had a cautizone injection which has helped with the pain, but they recon on 8 - 12 weeks to heal. (If you take care of it)
Might want to get it checked out.
If it is I can also recommend one of the velcro straps for tennis elbow, sits just below the elbow, and re-distributes the load on the ligaments / muscles. Helps me

Good luck

Didnt think it was tennis elbow because that seems to affect the outside of the elbow and mines more on the side say where it would touch the side of your body if you put your arm by your side. However apparantly there is something called golfers elbow which is very similar and affects the inner side of the elbow and caused by excessive use of the wrist ligamnet attatched to the elbow which ties in with guitar playing. Anyway thanks for the advice above I shall experiment will the various suggestions and hope it clears up soon

Was wondering who would be the first one to come up with that and its you Rick. Always thought it was the wrist not the elbow perhaps you could teach us all something LOL.

Not at all Karen I cannot wait to get out with my strimmer and get a bit of plastering and joinery done much better then adding figures up all day and dealing with those pleasant and most helpful people at the tax office

@45's lol !

I have golfers elbow caused through my job (oddly not as a golfer...), but every now and then it flares up and really affects my playing (even more so than my lack of talent!). Google the exercises you can do, and the elbow strap is a good idea too!

I normally have a drink in both hands at the same time but been trying to cut back recently. That could be the problem lack of excercise to the drinking arm. Think I might need to go to the pub tonight. Thank you Catdog for coming up with the remedy

I've had a similar thing for months, I'm a brickie so could be work related, I find a tubular support bandage helps a lot if only with humpin gear about.

Get to the Doctor or Physio and get a proper diagnosis. It could be Tennis Elbow, RSI, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome etc. etc. All require different treatments.
As an example if you try and exercise through Carpal Tunnel Syndrome it will get worse.......

Weird that idle i have a similar same problem but it is on the bone of the elbow on the outside and goes onto the inside on the forearm.
I am in bloody agony sometimes after gigs.
I also go to the gym and this started just before crimbo.
I am back to the doctors on wednesday hopefully to get it sorted.
Fist diagnosis was tennis elbow and just take ibrupofen.
Done this and nothing yet.
