Charity night advice

In aid of Cancer Research

I'm trying to setup a Charity night for Cancer Research in my local (The Netherton Hotel) for Viva la Coldplay and also a reforming of my old band "Pink Floydish" - Pink Floyd tribute band and would appreciate any help and advice from anyone who's done this in the past..

My Fiancee's Mother Barbara passed away a couple of weeks ago after being in hospital for a simple pain in the stomach.. She was only in for 1 week and died a week to the day she was admitted.. Was an extremely sad time for everyone and I'd like to do something in remembrance.

My local have been very supportive and will get the full backing of the brewery for it. I've contacted Cancer Research for an event pack.. I'm also going to get in touch with Liverpool/Everton FC to see if they can donate something to maybe raffle off or something..

Anyone think of anymore ideas?? I'm thinking along the lines of a big PA for both bands, anyone know of a place where they'd hire one out foor an event such as this?

Shaun

I could let you have a pull-banner to auction off - who ever wins it only needs to email me artwork and I'll make it up for them (I could let you have a sample). Doesn't even have to be for a band. Could be for a local business or society.

Let me know

If the pub is big enough then I've seen "whiskey rolls" bring in £90. Do it out of the way and keep it going for a while. Put a bottle of whiskey in the middle of the floor and let people roll £1 coins at the bottle. At the end of a allocate time the person nearest to the grog wins.

If you're having a few bands on, make sure there's a decent backline and kit available to speed up changeovers.

Hi Shaun.

Organised a night for Alder Hey some years ago and raised 2112 quid( Rush fans take note)

I contacted Phil Collins and got loads of freebies to auction from him including his Both Sides tour jacket.

Worth an e mail to Coldplay?

Best of luck with it matey

John

Shaun, £2.00 on the door matey, that won't put people off and will make a big diff to what you raise,

Rick.

Thanks John/Rick I doubt Coldplay would be interested to be honest but I'll certainly try.. I might see if I can get in touch with Floyd as well and see what we can raise for that!

£2 on the door won't work as it's a big eating pub.. Manager reckons they won't allow to charge on the door.. I'll speak with him later on though about it..
