Now I'm not going to call this a review of The Big Fish

and I'm not going to apologise to anyone

But the Big Fish are really FECKING AWESOME!

Before I launch into anything, credit where it is due:

Willow, acoustic guitar and vocals extrordinaire! hehe
John - Drums
Dr Dr Phil - Double Bass
Ben - banjo, mandolin, harp and vocals
Clive - elec guitar, vocals
and ........
Mr Davey MacFarlane .. Fiddler truly extrordinaire

I went along to the Royal Oak in Wigan this afternoon more intent on meeting some NWBers and having a few beers (after playing last night and having to drive) than anything else. Luckily, my mate Greg (the drummer out of Burly Chassis) had offeerd to drive (star man) and John (my other mate (yes - I've got two!!)) came along.

Well, what can I say?

Feck?

Ing?

Hell?

Yeah, I think that's about right.

Fecking Hell!

I'm not going to go into the fact that the sound was balanced, and you could hear everything really well (well except the cymbals on the drumkit, but it was a digital kit and we did tell them!).

I'm not going to go into the fact that they are all really polished musicians who played extremely well.

I'm not going to go into the fact that a quite large audiance for an early Sunday afternoon recieved everything they did with a rapturous response.

Because the fact is, I'm not writitng this as a review.

I just wanted to say that I am more and more into listening to bands off this site and having a good time - but isn't that what it is all about?

Not only did I get to watch The Big Fish in all their glory, but I got to meet Andy (from Anthem) and his missus Marie (not from Anthem), and Dee and Dave from The Hindley Arms again (bloody hell - you two get around abit!), and Rick and Anne from the 45's (well, Rick is), and Roj (ex Twin Lizzy) and Gill (Anthemette, but not from Anthem!), and Asa (Social Tornado).

Plus I had a great time with my friends.

I also had time to make plans for some further meet ups, and had a bloody good laugh.

So don't come on here bitching and moaning.

Don't come on here slagging other members off, or having a go at what others have said or done.

Just get out there and meet the people behind the keyboards.

Because we're all on here for the same reason (and don't you dare say 'I'm not'!), because of the music.

So just go out there and enjoy it!

P.S. Did I mention that The Big Fish are FECKING AWESOME!

Not a review - DONE
