Gig cancellation - beware imposters

Sat April 24th 2010 - The Jolly Tar

It is with regret that we have to announce that the gig on Sat April 24th at The Jolly Tar in Wardle near Nantwich,Cheshire has been cancelled. Unfortunately it would appear that someone unknown to either band nor venue phoned the management at The Jolly Tar to inform that Cold Flame were no longer available to play due to other committments. In fact this call was taken in January but as the caller sounded genuine, the management had no reason to doubt the validity of what was being said.Inevitably this freed up a date in the venue diary which has now been taken up by another band. The band were only informed over the Easter period by the venue when posters arrived from the CF crew advertising our performance. At this point we received the phone call informing us of the problem.

Cold Flame take this situation very seriously. It is abhorent to be made aware that there are still such sad mischievious people out there who are solely intent on playing games designed to create problems for everyone else. The band have come across this sort of thing before in the music business and doubtless other bands have too but clearly this sort of episode only underlines further the need to remain extra vigilant in all dealings.

Cold Flame place no blame whatsoever on the management at The Jolly Tar and look forward to returning to the venue in two Autumn gigs this year in September and December respectively.Humble apologies to those of you out there who were looking to come along on the 24th.As you will now be fully aware this is something way beyond the band's control. Please keep checking the gig guides and hopefully we will all meet up real soon.
Just as an afterthought...this means that the band are now in a position to fill the date with an alternative one should anyone fancy booking the chaps.

With deepest respect....Cold Flame....April 2010.

This has happened to us on a couple of occasions. Could be someone being downright nasty or the other possibility is that the venue double booked and it was an excuse. You'll never know unfortunately.

When a venue gets one of these 'calls' they should take a minute to ring the band back on their listed contact number to confirm the cancellation.....always best to double check just in case.....

Yep...we are now going to have to get on the phone and check all the other dates booked just in case.It is not surprising to learn that other bands have suffered the same fate.Clearly there are still some very very sad low lives who exist to be arses.
On a different tack thanks to you all for your support.Much appreciated.
CF crew.

jeez - how naive am I that I would never have thought of something like this!

I guess the best suggestion is LGIT's - if someone rings to cancel a gig (from either side) - they ring back the listed contact number to confirm what has been said.

Bad luck man - hope your other gigs are intact.

Going to try and bring a massive Jethro Tull fan to one of your gigs chaps.

Will look on site to try and pick a date :-)

Best wishes

John
