Right honourable thumbs-up to Woodlands in Sankey
Had two gigs yesterday. The first was playing at 'Glastonferry' in Penketh, t'was an all-day event with a few tributes/covers on. We got a 90minute set which was rare for this kind, and we definately needed the time as it took a while to iron out the cracks in the sound. Alot of people were moaning about the levels but they need to realise that with only half an hour to set up each band it's never going to be easy! Got loads of sing-a-longs going towards the end and the band were well looked after with drinks laid on and the sound guys being really helpful setting up the stuff so Glastonferry gets a big thumbs up.
Next we were five minutes down the road at the Woodlands, which is a fairly new NWB venue. We were concerned that the sell-out event down the road might harm attendance, but oddly a few people who saw us earlier on left to come and see us play in the eve. The venue has a great stage area, although the crowd visibility is a bit tricky as there is a hand-rail and some pillars in the way. However, we managed to get a GREAT sound as the ceiling was really low. Chris, the manager, is a top chap and really enjoyed our set. We got another good reaction from the punters who were a little light on numbers but not on enthusiasm. My head had swelled to epic proportions by the time we left. We're back on the 31st July, and with no other things happening in that area, I think it could be a cracking night! Might get it filmed next time.
Best day out we've had for a good while, thanks to everyone who came.
