Saturday Night reveiw pt2 - The 45's at The Windmill in West Houghton.

It was like deja view, Rick was at the door of the pub to meet us!

It was like deja view, Rick was at the door of the pub to meet us!

Met him and his much better half Anne on several occasions now, so was really up for hearing The 45's play. Also outside the pub were all of Dakota and some - I was introduced to all of them, but I can't remember any of the names 'cos I'd had more than 2 pints by then, and they haven't pm'd me as promised (probably because they'd had more than 2 pints!), so nice to meet you guys and gals!

By the time me an' Are Kid had got a drink, the band had launched into the second set, so once again I didn't get to meet the rest of the band ( told you it was like deja vu!), but they are Nikki on lead vox, Terry on bass and Luke on Guitbox - and, ofcourse, 'deer' Rick on drums!

Great sound, great playing, completely different vibe.

This was classic rock all the way, and a very ecclectic mix at that. Now, I have to admit that i am one of the sceptics when it comes to ladies singing male written rock, but Nikki handles it all beautifully, and Terry joins in with cracking harmonies and full on bass that really fills in when Luke goes into solo overdrive. Rick at the back steered them competently through each song (he's aproper head down and get on with it merchant!) without crashing once (well, just the cymbals!!)

There really was something for everyone in the set, from Long Train Running, through Who Knew by Pink, the obviously expected Blondie medley,Johnny B Goode to Sweet Child of Mine and even a bit of Sex on Fire.

The place wasn't rammed, but the audience was appreciative and up dancing and singing along.
I had to leave just before the end 'cos are Kid wanted to go home and have a beer, and as he was driving..............

I'm proper enjoying my nights out with you NWBers.

Who will it be next..........

Al, very kind words, thank you very much. Head down drummer - I was asleep !

I've noticed over the past couple of months that more and more NWBers are travelling further afield to see fellow NWB bands, which is fantastic ! Thanks to the ones who have done that for the 45's in the past - you know who you are !

Again Al, bro Ian and the Dakota Crew, thanks for your support

deers,

Rick.

Next up is Burley Chassis at The Flamin Galah. A South Manchester NWB night out. Unless anyone wants to come to Rochdale with Whatever! on Thursday night? The Elephant & Castle is calling for some school night mayhem.
