who else is dreading the world cup ?

endless analysis no gigs, every channel full up with sacked managers and over the hill players

I have to say the world cup drives me nuts, its not so much the football its the way it gets dragged up Ok a football match is 2 x45mins so why do we have to listen to hours and hours of jug eared preenters, sacked managers, over the hill players analysing every single kick of the ball !! I know its not the doen thing but I recon Im not the only that gets cheesed off with all this football nonsense, and breathes a sigh of relief when its all over. Dont get me wrong If you enjoy football .. great but its just the sheer overkill of it all my rants more about the coverage than the actual event .

I was going to put a blog on about the world cup myself, I went gig hunting last week and every pub we went in said, "we are putting the world cup on so we will have to work round that", so every pub is showing the world cup on tv to its punters, would`nt it make sense sense for the odd pub to put some entertainment on instead ? not everybody wants to watch the world cup, so as it is all the pubs will be in direct competion because they are all showing the same thing.however the ones with entertainment on will probably get all the people in who dont want to watch the world cup.

Paul .. group matches between 12.30, 3pm and 7.30pm our time. Knockout stages all 3pm or 7.30pm

Throw in extra time and pens and the later group stages could go on til after 10.30pm

I reckon only England matches and the semi's and final will attract big pub crowds tho.

Not sure if any of our gigs fall on fixture dates, but I know I won't be watching. I hate football.

Football - bunch of overpaid nancy boys.
Forgive me if you do like or indeed love the game.
I dont and that is my choice, I would prefer to watch grass grow than watch the equity card actors errr footballers diving and crying all the time.

For the England games on Saturdays the punters will be out from noon and absolutely hammered by the evening. I'm not sure that it would be worth the hassle. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of joining them!

got it sussed (or it could be too much of this florida sunshine) but the earlier post was bang on, everyones gonna be hammered, so im learing "footballs coming home" and a couple of "lads" songs - probably Eton Rifles and Happy Hour - thats all you'll need cos everyone of the frickin meatheads out will be that far gone they wont notice repetition - it'll be like an Alzeimers do for hooligans... attention span of a goldfish!!!!

I'm sorry, the World Cup is great. Here's hoping it'll be a classic in the Italia 90 mould. I just wish all the armchair supporters you get in pubs wouldn't shout at the telly so loud - that's well sad!
