Jeff at Ronnie Scott's - blew EC away. Tal Wilkenfeld only 23 when this vid was filmed. Now that was "awesome".

Check out Tal Wilkenfled at the Crossroads Festival, same tune, excellent playing, also the gig that threw her in the spotlight....Beck's not bad either, hey....

is it "great bass playing" .... or is it "great bass playing - for what looks like a little girl?"

Genuine question, not flaming or owt ... if that was a 40 year old bloke would it be noticed?? .. Edit .. not "noticed" would it be highlighted???

I think the fact she's playing (and more than holding her own) with Beck and Vinnie both got her noticed and highlighted. Her ability coupled with her age obviously adds to it. Perhaps the real question is 'would she have been noticed alongside 2 lesser known musicians?'.

is that Mr Colaiuta?? (spelling???) bloody hell now he's showing his age ... !!
but then aren't we all??
In fact, what am I even doing up at this hour??

I think the answer to the question is no .. if that was a 40 yr old bloke it wouldn't be highlighted ... however, the fact that it's a 23 yr old girl with 6 years experience on bass makes it quite noticeable ..... but is that cos she's 23 and a girl - or cos it's brilliant bass playing .. ?? (for a 23 yr old girl)
Nils Lofgren was playing some fantastic guitar at 16 for Neil Young .. i don't think he was ever single dout for being do young - just some great guitar ..........

p.s. I don't know what point I'm trying to make - if any!!

beer! dontcha just love it!!

night y'all

Yeah, that is Vinnie C.
I think that the internet has changed how various people come to the fore. I still believe that it's a combination of all, but without the exposure she has got with Jeff Beck, she probably would have taken longer to come to notice.
And, yes, I do love beer- -watcha drinking? :P

I've had the Tal Wilkenfeld album for a few months now, it is very good.

Also heard that Vinnie and her are an item....... he's a lucky bastard.

Rob.
