Covered by Toto.
Have heard this loads of times by other artists Jeff healey being my favourite version till now. Saw this song last night from Toto live from Amsterdam doing this and it was bloody awesome. Just had to say it really. Aiden
get the original if you havent heard it - with just mr harrison and an acoustic (think its on the most recent beatles number ones album or something) - it sounds amazing (without clapton and co), the final release version was just loads of overdubs on top of the acoustic version... its still good though, dont get me wrong - wish i'd written it!
Cheers Jez will have a look for that i love the beatles anyway. Just saying out of the covers i have heard, this is great live. Aiden
you want hear me play it!... youd f'in weep!!! :)
for reference, and an excuse to show these , all great!!
Spot on Rob
Jeff Healy for me
watching jeff brings a tear to my eye, he was an awesome player but also a lovely guy, his voice was so good too and he had a presence seldom seen, he was unique. Toto version good though.
Another vote for Jeff. Fantastic stuff.
HOLD ON!! ...... most of us are in covers bands .. yes??? (n.b. MOST) Then how easy is it to take a song and make it "better" .. especially from the 50s / 60s .. ?? Am I right?? So ... just don't compare! Or - compare the covers BUT not to the original ... because without the original there would be no covers!! Viva L'Originalle!! Willownevrhadanoriginalthoughtinhislife!!
Harrison gets my vote
s'pose i better put this up after singing its praises enjoy :)
It's really cynical of me I know, but I wish guitar players wouldn't write shortish "songs" as a disguise for a guitar solo. The solo on the original wasn't THAT long, but it's become a wankfest classic. Like when anyone covers Comfortably Numb.I've renamed it "While my guitar gently gives me an excuse to slope off to the bar until a song comes on".
yep, thats cynical of you!is it me or does this sound very much like Lennons style of song writing?
Harrison still gets me vote tho !
