If you could play one song live with any group

what would it be and why?

Could be a group or one person, still with us or sadly gone, but only 1 song, and it has to have some reasoning behind it, not just 'cos you like the track a lot!

Mine would be 'Jailbreak' from 'Live and Dangerous' by Thin Lizzy.

Not only did this album turn me onto rock in all it's glorious variety, but hearing Bian Downey on this opening track was the first time I ever thought 'I think i'd like to play drums'. So I had a go. And I did like it.

Can't believe I limited it to one!

Happy Sunday afternoon guys and gals

I managed to jam 'Move over' with Slade at the afternoon soundcheck at Manchester University in 1983. That's an ambition fulfilled.

I'd love to play Gonna Raise hell with Cheap Trick.
The perfect band for me.

Xanadu - Rush
favourite song ever, just being on the same stage as my idols would be enough

+1 for xanadu although "The pass" is also one of my top Rush tunes and one i have always said I want playing at my funeral! Al, I used to play Jailbreak with Tranzmission- food for thought!

For me it would have to be Maggie May backing Rod's current band or The Faces.

Reasons - a) Great Song, b) I'm a massive Rod Stewart fan,

Rick.

All good ones guys (Keith - no. Okay, just no!)

@ Gary HA HA HA, but seriously, I would've thought more along the lines of 'London Calling' or 'Gates of The West'

I could think of many, but today's is as a third guitarist with Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour, I wouldn't say I'd want to be in place of Steve Clark or Phil Collen, between the three of us we could play those multiple layered guitars in full

that album is one if my faves ever

@ R Redfern Esq - a little bit of a liberal interpretation, but I've had a beer now so okay.

@ LGIT - see, I'm not just an old sit on the fence prog rocker!

too tough this!

I like Rob's call about doing a whole set with someone

So, along those lines I'd like to play the whole of The Pretender album with Jackson Browne.

Reason : I think, along with Tunnel Of Love by Springsteen, it's one of the most complete set of tracks put together on one album

@Robert Redferne - I was going to go with anything off the Hysteria album too!!

@ Cottonhouse Shakers, though I am a massive Transvision Vamp fan too (for the same reasons as you probably! lol!!!)

If I had to pick another to avoid duplication, it would be..... Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth!

Extreme - Get The Funk Out.

Just in the desperate hope that a sliver of Nuno's genius would rub off on me. His playing on that album as a whole was jjust draw-droppingly brilliant.

Though, having said that, to be on stage during the final showdown between Steve Vai and Steve Vai / Ry Cooder / Ralph Macchio(!) from the movie 'Crossroads' would be something else too. I'd just play open chords though, so I wouldn't make myself look like a complete flange...

@Mick Green - damn that Extreme song is a fine, fine choice!

used to play Tragicomic with a previous band, but would never have dared attempt Get the funk out!

damn yeah i put a bands tour instead of an actual song, so here goes from the same band i nominate above, im from Yorkshire too, so would get on with these guys like a house on fire, if i was stood there playing this with them that would be amazing, hysterical in fact :-)
