and more blonde witch......

Following a very nice barbecue and a couple of beers, me and my deputies for the night (John and Andy - DD), took ourselves off to deepest Hindley, to sample the music of Wolfpack and the hospitality of Dee and Dave, the most famoustess hosts in all of La La Land.

Now, I've played at Georgia Browns with Kingpin, but had never yet made it through the hallowed doors of The Hindley Arms. Well, what a fantastic venue. We walked in the door to be greeted by Dave who was spinning a couple on the fruit machine. Quick chat whilst John got the beers in (and yes, the blonde witch is to die for), then Dave took me over to meet Wolfpack:
Andy - Drums
Gav - Bass
Rab - guitar
Troft - guitat (the tall one)
Nige or Nidge - singist
Great set of guys sweating not only from the heat, but also because the Marshall stack wouldn't behave!
I left them to it and said hello to Dee - now apparently it wasn't that busy in there last night, but Dee still rolled uo her sleeves to serve when there were thirsty people waiting - photographic evidence is available on facebook!
The pub is a slightly strange shape, with 4 main areas that all interconnect - can make it a little difficult to actually see the band some of the time, but with the problems finally ironed out, and a sound check under their belts, Wolfpack swung into action. The sound was great, heavy without being too loud. A good mix of 'classic' rock music - UFO, Maiden, Aerosmith, Sabbath ('Neon Knights' dedicated to RJD - R.I.P.), all played with enthusiasm and skill.
The crowd were very appreciative and we all thoroughly enjoyed it - but what a contrast musically to The Big Fish last week, but that's what I love about the bands on this site, there's something for evryone and every mood! (Even Pamela eh, Willow;-) ).
Met Shell (again) and Harry and Keith and some guy called Roj who plays bass a bit and Anthemette and.........
Then to top it all off, Dee and Dave provided a supper of SF Chicken and chips and pizza for us all!

TOP Venue

Great Band

Great People and

THE BEST hosts in the business

Thanks to you all - I had a brilliant night

As one of the merry band of men who visited the Hindley Arms with Al, I just have to say a very big thank you to Dave and Dee for making us all feel really welcome.
As Al said, great venue, great people, great blackcurrant and soda. (I did sample the Blonde Witch and it was gorgeous)
Oh by the way - Wolfpack you were top - Nice sound without making my ears bleed
