Is it Your Town ??

Just out of curiosity ,which is your favourite town to play a gig - in terms of most good venues , most appreciative audience , great bands ect ect .

In our limited experience , so far , my vote has to go to ....... drum roll please ...... BOLTON .

Bolton?????????????????????

Well I did say limited experience !!!

and we havent played most towns , yet , but weve had a couple of good gigs there . Seems easier to get a gig there than our locality - Southport/preston .

for its size Atherton must come close...5 or 6 venues, at least a couple of open mic/jam sessions and a nightclub that has bands on

Loudest crowd so far has to go to the king eddy in Blackpool, but the craziest crowd by a mile has to go to The Derby Arms in Colne.

Got to agree with Alec dudes BOLTON???????? I am Bolton born and bred and the apathy shown to live rock music in this town is a total disgrace! Our strongholds are anywhere in the Oldham area(Whittles especially) Lancaster, Atherton and Hindley.

Got to agree with Alec dudes BOLTON????????

I refer the honourable member of wolfpack to my previous answer !

Though , thinkin` about it , part of my reasoning was from a gig we played at the Moses Gate - which isnt technically in Bolton - Its in Farnworth - so I`ll bow to your greater knowledge - ha ha ..

Agree with Wolfpack...Bolton died for us a long time ago.
Our places tend to be Oldham, Stockport, Atherton & Burnley.

Agree with Dean, Bolton has fallen off the map.....
All our Bolton crew came to see us at Atherton though, bless 'em...
For 'Classic' Punk.....I'd say there is a hard core of Punk fans in every town.
Macclesfield, Runcorn and Oldham (Including Chadderton) are some of our best NW gigs.....
Recently broke into Huddersfield and that place is bouncing.....they're well up for the live bands there.....
Now, Yorkshire is a goldmine for 'Rock' of any type.....lots more 'venues' dedicated to live music than the NW.....sad but true...

Bury is the new Sunset Strip!!!! - -hopefully it will be anyway!!! friday gigs now in Pack Horse, Flying Shutle, O'Niells, Knowlsey, Pics Bar, and thats before you bring in t'owler and other nearby places.Clarence is just starting jam nights and Tiger bar was doing em midweek. Fingers crossed :)
and with Gary LGIT - huddersfield is growing again with venues and still must have as big a punk contingent as anywhere

Hate to repeat myself but......It may not be the "hardest rocking" but for variety and amount of venues/bands (and a council supported annual free festy)....it has to be Darwen.
