"bit poor that..."

Hmmm not sure if I like the phrasing of your question there Willow, I think the line-up is far from 'poor'.

Ok to answer you:

1) Almost all of those bands approached us well before the festival so I'm hardly going to insist they be on northwestbands before they can play us.

2) A lot of my regular NWB bands couldn't play it this year.

3) Whilst we are a member of NWB and the majority of our bands are too, we don't really get many NWB customers (probably due to the start time). So this line-up consists of a lot of young local acts which we always like to support, and our popular regular bands, and is mainly aimed at pleasing our regular customer base.

4) There's actually 7 NWB acts on that line-up...!!

And I thought there wasn't supposed to be cliques on here!! ;-)

Willow we were asked but unfortunately could't do it this year.
We have done a couple of musics lives and lyndsay and Nikki have always asked us if we would like to do it.

Have a good one.

@Marigolds
many thanks for your most fulsome response which answered my question completely.
(btw I never said the line up was poor.)

so it's not "our" Last Gang In Town?? That was the one I was counting as NWB band! LOL

as for cliques ... noooo, never, not on here ... alright perhaps there's those that contribute and those that don't??? but then by definition those that don't can't be IN the clique of those that do, cos as soon as they do then they won't be in thsoe that don't .... er ,, see? No? Me either!

Haha glad we sorted that out then Willow!!

Cheers to Kingpin and Whatever for their support too.

I just want to add that this is blog is getting to be a bit typical of NWB unfortunately, with the responses mainly being gripes, in this case about other bands, not enough NWBands or unsuitability - what aboout my pretty flyer??!

We take a lot of pride in what we do at Marigolds but it is first and foremost a business, a job, our only source of income, etc. whereas for most on here it's a hobby.

We'd love to have all kinds of bands on and give you a big pile of money for doing it!! But times are tough and customers can be fickle.

So the decisions we make, eg. genre of band, are aimed at pleasing as many as the customers as possible so that hopefully we can stay open in an industry that is struggling!!

Thank you!! I did it myself, all self-taught (as you can probably tell...)

No, the the guitarist is from a band called Boomin, a mega popular covers band from Wigan, check out how many gigs they've got this year:

@Willow

Thanks for that comment, it gives us a sense of belonging.....

This other Last Gang In Town insist they're called THE Last Gang In Town.....and I've already spoken to them and warned them of the potential consequences of having almost identical names.....they have now been billed as LGIT without the THE and a few people thought it was US.....either way it's WRONG.....Shame it's gonna get messy but they were warned.....
