Filed Under : Music , Gear

Nothin fancy.

I want a little 4 track recorder or the closest thing to one... I litrally want to record maybe 2 vocals and 2 guitars. I dont want an all singin all dancing jobby and I want something cheap and cheerful that does the job. I have been writting alot recently and have got to the point where i have forgotten how my fuckin songs go, so gonna get them down.

If anybody has anything out there please let me know.

Dean

have you goyt a laptop (obviously youve got a pc) - if so, try an M-Audio Jamlab - just plug youre guitar thru it and youre away and theres loads of recording software/amp modellers - pisseasy to use (sure i could sort ya) and a USB mic, Once you got a "basic song" file set up, just load it up, record away and name it afterwards and save it. download it then straight to phone, mp3 player etc

If you have an applemac with garage band, you can just plug straight in with unlimited tracks. It's fantastic for ideas and surprisingly decent quality. I'm not sure about PCs. Not sure ypu can get garage band with a PC ?? Maybe some other inexpensive software.Sorry got rid of my 4 track about 6 months ago !

best and easiest money can buy has to be the BOSS BR1200 CD DIGITAL RECORDING. plug in and play, built in fx and full programme drums.
record at the touch of a button and burn off songs with the same.
got mine 2nd hand of ebay £300. worth every penny.

laptps are better - you can play em where ya want. Get a compuer set up - take the plunge!!!.. its only a tape player on your pc screen! Honestly, once its set up - just plug in, press record and your away :-)
If not - Fostex X-15 of ebay, used to love mine!.. in fact, looking back on it, I used to get more down then cos I didnt spend hours playing with guitar modelling software!!!.. might look myself!
@stevo on the pc there's Magix Samplitude, same idea, easy to use but has features for everything if ypuve a 25 hour day to learn them!

on a slightly different tangent - bought myself a Line6 Backtrack which is just a black box about size of an Iphone, with a jack socket on it and headphones. You just plug in, feck about and if you like something you just played you press a button and it saves it - you dont need to start/stop - just noodle away!

I have a Fostex MR-8 digital 8-track you could have. The snag is it's an American one, so it needs a power supply converter to run on the UK mains. You're welcome to have it if you want to try and get it working.
