Does anybody know...?

If there is demand out there for cover gigs with acoustic guitar, piano and singers? Or do ya reckon these days people expect the full band when they come to pubs?

All you can do is try it. Our singer (Paul) has a side project with a mate of his called 'Sleeping Through the Day', and they go out as an accoustic duo playing stuff like Arctic Monkeys!

We thought about doing an acoustic set once in a while. We've done the acoustic version of Mr Sacrifice by Creed a few times, and even performed Living on a Prayer acoustically (though that was a birthday present for someone!!)

It's an appealing thought isn't it? No big rigs to lug about - just plug in and play!

I think there's a real market for it, particularly in trendy bars. I've seen a fair few such acts on a Saturday night in Manchester and round Didsbury way. Not my cup of tea, something I'd never envision doing but I can see the appeal of no heavy amplifiers and a two-way split of any earnings!

why not tap one of the bands up on here and do a small set of 3 or four songs in the break between their sets to test the water???

@Film One - I agree with that. The face you can set up/pack up quickly, take up not much room and don't have to be loud enough to entertain people on the moon has to be a draw for places like this!

Me and a friend talked about opening a cafe/wine bar thing, and said we'd put on acoustic stuff in the evening

I'd look at doing bars as well as pubs. It's good if you can keep the volume down, and set your stall out as background music.(just think piano bars). There's interest out there from those places who want live music, but where punters can still talk whilst you're playing, as opposed to the full loud band sound.
Go for it, I bet you'll be surprised how successful you can be.
The money will probably be a bit lower as it's not a full band, but the opportunities are there if you look.
