Mid-week gigs

Which venues do them and who plays them?

Traditionally, we play on Friday and saturday nights 'cos they're the weekend nights right? - no work next day.

I also know that quite a few venues do 'early' Sunday gigs (Ighton Leigh, Rosegrove Unity and Greenhill Bowling Club to name a few), and Dave and Dee put a band on on Sunday night proper at The Hindley Arms (and I'm sure there are many more.)

But what about the proper school nights - Mon, Tues, Weds and Thurs?

Any venues putting bands on? Any of you lot doing said gigs?

If so, how is the crowd? How late do you play? How do you mix it with work in the morning?

And does it pay the same?

wouldn't really wanna gig when workin the day after......some of us need all the beauty sleep we can get....Tex Anap

We do a couple of semi-regular mid-week Gigs. Both are Cafe Bars and It's very laid back and we love it as we can do all the stuff we don't do normally.
It's a completely different atmosphere to week-end Gigs and quite well attended.
Pay isn't bad and it's ideal for doing new material.
Normally wrap up about midnight but as we don't work, (other than gigging), next day isn't a problem.
I don't know of anywhere that put classic rock on mid-week, these are Soul/Funk and Fusion Gigs.

The Longlands Hotel , Tewitfield near Carnforth on a Monday. Used to be a great night because all the hotel and leisure staff round here tend to have Mondays off. It`s still a good gig but can be a bit hit and miss crowd wise.
Start at 9/9.30 play til 11.30/12.0 .
Easy lift, nice staff (some veeeery attractive young ladies behind the bar). Not the best payer, but it`s that or Corrie right ?

Jeeez is the Longlands still going on a Monday night ??

That used to be one of my fav venues .... back in the 80's it used to be wall to wall bodies on a Monday night....one of the most packed venues I've ever played...

shame how times have changed.... back then ALL the pubs we played were mid-week

weekends we did the social clubs for the more dosh !!
