got one at last .. great fun !

Ok its annoying the hell out of football fans the world over people sare making outragous claims about its volume and its going to make everybody deaf etc . the daliy mail now has the volume at 144 decibels !

Nonsense

I got my vuvu from Lidl this morning its a 2 piece and around 2 foot long its basically a funnel shaped horn it has no reeds and is played by putting the mouth piece to you lips and blowing a raspberry, and it emits a loud honking noise, mines pitched around B flat its not really possbible to vary the pitch very much so it is a very limited instrument in terms of what actual melody you could [play on it.

I think why its captured peoples imagination is becasue its such fun, you can play it almost immediatly and its loud , I cant stop blowing the damn thing !! Im sure its not the case for the listner but in terms of novelty value its great.

the claims about its volume are nonsense , its not as loud as a bugle or a trumpet and certanly no where near a Highland Bagpipe, although it is loud consedering there are no reeds in it.

im sure recycling bins will be full of these things before very long and council noise control officers will be very busy however in terms of fun for your money they are great. however like any novelty it soon wears off, I think at gigs you could have a laugh with some over the next few weeks however there are hygene issues with having "communal" Vuvuzelas.

if like me you like wierd and whacky instruments get down to Lidl and spend the most fun £2 youll ever spend

ah but you got the Lidl model.....try the
Asda 'Steve Vai' Super....great action, always stays in tune, optional whammy, real vuvuzela plastic....I can get almost 170db out of it....
Costs a bit more at £1200 but think of it as an investment.

Apparently Asda have just placed an order for half a million of the buggers!
There you go Gary - I know there's an Asda in Runcorn.
