tormented genius but my word when hes on form!!!!
listen to that phrasing
GENIUS!
@grooverman-"on form" indeed-outstanding work! what axe is he playing there, g-man? has a real nice tone to it (i know it's m s who making it sing-but?):-D
Had the great fortune to see him with UFO, just before he defected to The Scorpions (Lights Out tour I think). The guy is pure class! AYP
I also saw him with UFO in a hotel basement in Blackpool!
He special guested at the Scorpions gig at the Apollo last year. They did doctor doctor,it was ace
Its a gibson flying V , V one of the ones he had to sell to fund his divorce, hes now an endorsee of Dean guitars, he uses a very stripped down rig 50 watt marshall JCM800 BOSS delay and a Jim dunlop Wah that he leaves semi cocked at various angles to get that unique tone (Randy Rhoads did a similar thing as well) no distortion or overdrive he just gets the amp cooking, I think on "strangers in the night" he used an MXR distorion plus but his tone is more valve overdrive that distortion, superb player
@grooverman-thanks, bro-kinda thought it was, but wasn't sure? superb sound. :-D by the way-"Its a gibson flying V , V one of the ones he had to sell to fund his divorce" i saw what you did there!!! lmho!!! ;-D
quality! last saw him on Built To Destroy tour at Sheffield City Hall, but we we're on balcony and you could see another guitarist playing side stage! may have been well have been rhythm but he you never know!!!- he has got a few issues!
One of my fave batists when he's not fuckin wankered.
Awesome !!! Guitars you wish you hadn't sold ....... Gibson Flying Vee !!! Do'h !!! :O(
Schenker is one of the guitar players I wish I could enjoy. I can appreciate the talent, but he doesn't hit my ear right.
i saw him at the academy a couple of years ago, he was smiling, drinking water, and as focused as he's ever been , he played awesomely too, i felt proud of him that he was back to his best again
My first experience of Schenker when when i listened to the MSG live album, One Night in Budokan and then picked up a copy of the UFO live album Strangers in the Night. From that point I was hooked. I saw MSG a couple of weeks ago at Liverpool Academy '30th Anniversary Tour'. Some of the 'original MSG line up were there, Chris Glen and Gary Barden. The gig was excellent, Schenker was really on form. A faultless demonstration of his style and skill. Awesome player Neil
1st 2 studio albums and one night at budokan were superb albums, he then, for me, went downhill
