if you have a gig booked at the Town Mouse in Burnley

If you are booked to play at the town mouse in burnley in Nov, could you give Linda a call on 01282458006. Our gig on the 14th has been cancelled due to her not hearing anything from the biker mag that was organising it.

She was fine with me, but annoyed with the magazine.
She is going to sort us out with another date soon.

Still definately worth giving her a call to make sure everything is ok.

All sounds not very good really eh? Why has she cancelled on you? The mag only offered to put bands in touch with her they aren't paying the bands or anything as that is down to The Town Mouse so why would she cancel on you and leave the date empty? We're supposed to be there on 19th December but this has thrown it into doubt.
Not good!

As far as we were concerned, all the details were sorted out between ourselves and Jason. We had no dealing with the pub whatsoever. I was under the impression that this was a mag sponsored event organised by Jason, which it transpires is not the case.
Without going too much into the nitty gritty, Linda's sole objection was that there has been no advertising and she was given no band contact details so she has decided to cancel.

I spoke to linda last night, she was fine but did say she wants to push the gigs pretty hard for a few weeks before .. still on for 21st of this month thankfully - there was mention of a review in the magazine will this still be on you reckon?

Hmm well for our part we've sent A3 posters and a load of colour flyers 6 weeks ahead so she can't have any complaints there. Jason did say he'd plug the gigs through 100MPH but i just visited the site and there's nothing on there, not even a Town Mouse venue listing. We believe it's the venue and our job to promote our gigs anyway so i'll check with Linda that she got the posters and flyers first before seeing what she wants to do?

jason put us in touch with Linda, and we have maintained contact, i never leave it to a middle man..too many cooks and all that... we are appreciative of jasons endeavours in that he highlighted the venue, and we were all quick to put our names forward, to get a gig were we not?
She should have recieved our posters by now and as far as I am concerned there is no prob whatsoever.

come on down on the 28 nov to get a look at the balding bolshy singer..
me.

Hi guys. Just want to clarify something here. The Town Mouse is a pub I had been drinking in on Friday nights and Linda asked me if I knew any bands due to the fact I run a magazine for bikers and seem to be in touch with a few bands.

I put a request on here and was overwhemled by the responses. I contacted Linda and told her what type of bands were interested and when they were available.

Upon her request I negociated and booked bands. Totally upon her confirmation. She was given the list of bands and dates weeks ago when they were all confirmed.

All the November bands have even been listed in the November issue of 100mph magazine.

I recently moved house and had no internet access for a few weeks. While this was happening I had no way of requesting posters from the bands as I didnt copy down contact numbers (as I explained in my original blog, I am not good at this as I had never done it before).

I did my best for Linda and the reason the band has been cancelled is because Linda has booked a band herself on the cheap which really disgusts me to find out as she left me to go to all the trouble of booking bands.

I was not getting paid for the bookings. I was getting Linda to pay for an advert in our magazine and the odd free pint if everything worked out fine.

The promotion in the magazine was solely on my part. As an incentive to bands playing in a pub that I drink in, I was willing to write a review of each band. This offer still stands.

I would like to apologise to all the bands for any confusion. Myself and my magazine have nothing solid to do with what happens at the Town Mouse. I tried to do a favour for a local back street pub and the thanks I get is my name being dragged through the mud.

My advise to all the bands booked to play...

The Fix (tomorrow)
Without Reason (now cancelled)
August (21/11)
Driving Force (28/11)
Wolfpack (19/11)

is to contact Linda and get confirmation of payment, price and gig still standing as she left me to book bands then went and booked them herself. The number is 01282 458 006.

I will not be venturing into the pub again as she has put a bad name on my magazine after I spent hours trying to get the right kind of bands for her.

If any of the bands listed above are still going to play there then please send me a message and I will make sure someone is there to review your band as I made a promise and that still stands.

Any of the bands wanting gigs, I have several phone numbers of pubs that would have you play any time. I will not get involved in booking of bands again. I will just act as a helper with pubs and bands, passing numbers on to bands, passing band names onto pubs.

As for not having the gigs listed on our website, well that is what I was meant to say at the start when I explained about our internet being off. We have not been able to update the website for a number of weeks now and with the December issue of the magazine about to go to print, we are on a tight deadline so I wont update it until next week.

As a gesture of goodwill, I will promise to get you all at least a phone number for replacement pubs. As I said, I know of half a dozen pubs that would book you all at the drop of a hat. What you do regarding the Town Mouse is up to you but Linda has shown her true colours and to be honest, I dont think it would be wise to play there.

Anyone wants to chat with me further about this please send me a message. And As for Without Reason, I will promise you a decent write up at one of your next gigs.

Hopefully that clears things up guys. Really sorry about what has happened.

Regards,

Jason - 100mph magazine.

We are bailing out as the whole situation seems to have gotten out of hand and the end result will always spell disaster.

shit we're due to play there tonight! i have spoken to both linda, jason and a number of the bands that are booked to play there and everybody seems to have a very bad experience of these bookings.
upon booking the gig we were told not to worry about posters, promo etc coz it would be sorted which we later found out was false and when i phoned linda she was VERY unimpressed to say the least. after a lengthy conversation we managed to put it all down to crossed wires on everybodies part and this week ive fucking worked my arse off contacting radio stations, plugging it on here, facebook and myspace to try and get her a decent crowd to the venue.
after this i thought it'd be a nice touch to go in and actually speak to her in person but i have to say i was met with a very frosty reception and all that she was really interested in was trying to get the price down.
as it stands now the gig will be going ahead 2nite (at the original price!) and i will inform you all nxt week as to how it went.
to be honest i think driving force said it best with dont leave it to the middle man, however we have done these sorts of gigs before and when weve contacted the venue we've basically been told to leave well alone and i quote "not confuse the situation" !!! so sometimes it seems you just cant win!
another point that needs making is that this used to be quite a good venue a few years back, still under linda, and after chatting to a few of our m8s that plyed there it seems that it was a regular occurance for linda to try and dock the wages of bands if she wasnt happy with the turnout!
anyways im gonna try and rerserve judgement until after the gig tonight and like i said i will inform you all next week how itgoes. in the meantime wish us luck =)

ben - the fix

I hope it all goes well for you tonight Ben as I feel partly responsible.

As you said, Linda used to short change bands some years back. I heard about that but believed it to be idle gossip from a couple of jealous regulars because she asked me to pick the bands rather than them (I had only been going there for about 6 weeks).

You are now the thrid band to say the same thing since I booked all the bands for her so there must be truth in it somewhere.

I think Wolfpack have done the right thing as they agreed to play at a very discounted price and as they said, it spells disaster.

As for you playing tonight, I only hope it goes well for you guys.

Im off to see a band in Skipton tonight and the pub I am going to wants some bands to contact her. I'll see what its like there tonight and let you all know and give you their contact details to sort the bookings out if you want a gig there.

Favours huh.........!

Bands stopped playing there because of this years ago. So true about a leapord never changing its spots.

I wont slag off the town mouse but at the same time, I will never promote them again.

The magazine is about getting the bands names out there and getting live venues packed just like NWB's does.

All we can do is say learn by your mistakes.

Do it.
It seems like she's just taking the p!ss and has no respect for the time and effort put in by the bands. she just sees the fee.
