Our last one died in a bizarre gardening accident, what will become of our newest recruit
Using his network of contacts, Munro-man has sourced us an unbelievably good drummer! Where did he find this new percussive prodigy I hear you ask? Well, he's actually just started work at Munroman's office! No magic, no advert in the NME or a local music shop. Ironically he's also the best stickman we've had by a country mile - having learnt the entire set in time for his first rehearsal with us.
This is great news, as although it looked kind of cool and "out there" not having a drummer, playing to a backing track is a pain in the backside as you're at the mercy of the thing. Drop a beat and you're doomed! Fancy improvising? No chance! It was like gigging in front of a firing squad so to have a human back in charge of the beats is a huge relief. Though it'd be nice if human drummers and had a nice big volume knob, could fit all their gear in a 4u rack case, and had two phono-outputs in place of a mouth, but you can't have everything!
I'm sure I'll be on here bemoaning the demise of the Film One percussion department in about a fortnight as something's bound to go wrong but in the mean time, it's fantastic to be in something resembling a "proper band"!
Oh and while I'm at it, check out our myspace for a brand new recording of "The Lost Age"!
