Have you spotted a bug? - Help me out, and report any known issues/problems here.
i refer to my comment about time, which i now realise that i should have put here, but didn't see this blog until too late otherwise i would have done so ......and i'm waffling, aren't i??? doh!!!
re: Time Yeah thats true - Its probably the sqlmembership provider. It might have the time/date settings wrong. Cheers! - ya cant trust Bill to get anything right can ya.
all get ironed out eventually?? as we said-road test and step by step.
when i click on post blog on my profile page nuthin appens !
Clicky on "Post Blog", then click on "Post Blog" on the right of the screen. Easy Tiger!
Hi, lovin the new site. Looking forward to seeing it build up with new features and bands. Did you put your clock forward? The who's online/last activity time seems to be an hour behind.
hey slayer! see first two comments on thhis blog!! :-))
re: Time/Whos On Just been googling, apparently the sqlmembership provider works on the UTC clock, which means I need to do an hour adjustment as we're in GMT Summertime +1. Its not a biggy issue for the moment. Just hooking up the gig guide before Wrecked kill me! :-)
lol! yeah-they were very anxious? think wolfpack might be howling for your blood iffen that's not up and running soon too. )don't forget me "cricketers"one, please???
Gig Guide on now - needs a bit of tidying up, but alteast ive managed to port all the gigs sucessfully from the old database. This new site has a totally different schema, so there was a lot of crossed fingers involved. As a rule of thumb, people with FAN accounts wont be able to submit gigs (as I had problems in the past with fans adding dodgy/non existent gigs) - On the plus side, I'll be assigning some of the regulars with "gig add" abilities - aka Viking! Kick the Kat gig now listed!
oooer! responsibility!! do i "do" "responsibility??? (bites fingernails nervously!!) by the way-THANK YOU!!-i'd promised alan and sharon (cricketers) i'd get the gig on for this week-their it person is not available at the moment.
not a "bug" as such-happened with the previous site as well. is there a way to make it so that when we "Log out" we LOG OUT?? sometimes it can show as being still logged in quite a while after we've signed out. again-merely an observation? "community recognition programme" sounds rather arkansaw chain gangy, methinks? liking the concept, but perhaps something like "community involvement status", bit less sherriff roscoe p. coltraine?? :-)))
Yeah - I noticed that too - I think its a Cookie authentication problem, in that some people still have a cookie on their computer related to the OLD site, and hence keeping them logged in. Try zapping your cookies, and restarting the browser. Its a problem which happened (and got solved) with the last site too. Yeah, Community recognition should be a cool way to keep the site chugging along. It'll also be a really good way to monitor/delete off members who dont contribute. I can see the Community Recognition Programm (CRP - lol!), being the new "CHART" headache! hehe
"Yeah, Community recognition should be a cool way to keep the site chugging along. It'll also be a really good way to monitor/delete off members who dont contribute. I can see the Community Recognition Programm (CRP - lol!), being the new "CHART" headache! hehe" as i said-sherriff roscoe p. coltraine!!! lol!!! yeeehah!!!!
Well if you post a comment, thats +1,.. if theres a typo,. then you'll get -1,.. if you repost with the typos correct that you'll go +1. You will only go Minus points, if you delete a comment, and dont replace it. I'll start a Blog about CRP, so the comments can go together.
Hey Paul, just tried adding a few gigs but they've not appeared in the list. Also, just tried to update a couple of the current gigs but they keep defaulting to 8:00 pm start and when I add any comments they don't appear.
Just noticed I've lost two CRP points by deleting a gig that had been carried over twice. I've been robbed!
Hopefully sorted that bug - cheers for spotting that. The time/info should work now You may have lost a couple of CRP points as I noticed some of your gigs were listed twice :-) I'll refund you 2 for bringing the bug to my attention :-)
On some of the profile external web links, (well mine and sxnw) the http bit appears twice, (no doubt because i should have just put the www bit onwards). I can't find a way to edit this at the moment.cheers
Cheers matt - Yeah noticed that too. Im just uploading/testing the profile edit page. So you should be able to edit it pretty soonish. Ive hooked up the ability to change you profile name, and to choose your own profile url e.g. northwestbands.co.uk/matt Thats a new featured added to the new NWB - In the last one, I had to update the URLS manually just so it wouldnt mess up the NWB coding.
ideal, I'll have a play about, cheers
Any idea when we can have our music player back? Really missing it as can't advise venue's to check out our songs. Cheers
Should be available in the next few days - Its the next thing on the list to implement.
Paul, how do I find the comments that have been sent us? I know we've got some but I'm blowed if I know how to get to them.
They appear on your profile page.. www.northwestbands.co.uk/Phoenix
Will you be able to "watch" a blog thread?I have to scroll through the big list to find the ones I'm trying to watch. Just wondered if its in the add-ons/future roll-outs
Good idea! You forget about them once they're off the main blog page, i found that too.. a blog of mine that people are commenting on but i don't always know.. (until my hotmail account has 100000000000000000000 emails - grr!) switched the email notification off now too so i think the 'watch' idea would be good! :-)
yeah, good idea. I'll introduce a blog subscription clicky.
Like the new sticky posts section :-) Now you wont miss anything uber important!
Fixed the bug whereby people said it appeared they had been logged in under the wrong username.
am STILL not getting my "infomails" re:comments/messages/blog comments etc?? :-(
Are you using a hotmail addy? - Check your junk folder.
mr nwb-nope, same e mail addy as i've always had (aol)? getting blog comment info sometimes and friend addys, but no comments or messages.:-(
oh-and i DO get comments and messages!!! lol!!! :-0
Gay-OL? that'll explain it, they have the most awkward spam filter in the world. Not suprised your not getting them.
ermmmm- ain't nothing "gay" 'bout viking's aol!!! humph!!! had no problem until about a month ago? get the occasional "blog comment" through, usually ages after a post, but that's it? have checked my "filters", all the usual url's are in my address book, 'lessen you've changed 'em recently? have just reset options? :-)
Tell u what would be great on here - an instant chat facility!
Does that 'seen band' thing work on band pages? Also, it would be great if on band profiles, you can see the next 5 upcoming gigs that a bands going to play, because the only way to see who's playing when, at the moment, is to go through the pages of gigs.
instant chat. comming in the new NWB. yep. Also, proper profile pages. watch this space!
One of our gigs (7th March) had changed its date to 3rd. Now corrected. It has done it by itself somehow, as I have cut and pasted the list into our flyer and the flyer dates are all correct. Haunted, I tell you!
Hey Paul... I'm having trouble changing my avatar, is everyone else or just me? also, I second what Bat suggested. Be good to be able to view the bands gig lists...
You should be able to change it now shell.
Wheres hot blogs gone?
You need to be signed in to see "hot blogs" Members only feature
ah, so a reward for us 'special' (needs) people? LOL
hey mr nwb. how can i post an image to show? i've tried the usual <img src=> and [img] but with no luck
At the moment you can only post the link to the photo. I had to disable the direct photo insert as people were posting photos that were too large and breaking the NWB layout.
Iv'e noticed when I'm logged in it says I have a new message but I don't, its been like that for agesIan - Big Deal
Yeah, its a known bug. It happens if you delete a message that you never read. Sorted in the NWB 2.0, released soon.
Hey Mr NWB .... great site - but since your latest changes I'm getting a runtime error message up each time I load a page. "Error on line ... " something or other No biggy, but thought you should know Cheers Willowfeeeesh
Is it a javascript error? or a server side error?
Mr NWB, there seems to be a lot of letter 0's floating behind every single post on NWB.Plus, lastest comments are showing up latest comments.
re: bat-o, hor do(h) soom to bo roght, mr nowob!! thore's "o"'s on ovory commont on tho blogs! oh-thore!! soo!!! :-
oh
Yeah, I know, Im doing some bug monitoring. The O's should be gone in the morning.
maybe the 0's should be left in and we'll all go west country folky type musos..whack foll me dearie
whats that song now, it goes alive alive O, alive alive O, singing cockle,s and muscles, alive alive O
opps it did it again
anyone else finding it takes ages for a blog comment to register and /or show on the comment list?? :-(
Hi, Paul. I dunno if this is true of our profile or everyon's, but I can't get ours to enable the "friends request." If someone looks at our profile it says "N/A" for that feature, and that's not very friendly. lol When I go into our control panel, I can't see how to change it. Feel free to mess with it if you want, Paul. Thanks. Annie
hah!! That should be sorted for the new profiles on the new site. Just keep with it for now :-)
when i post image url in my blog, it doesn't appear. It's a png file. It works fine in the comments section tho.
** Going to page 2 of the blog, the site seems to regularly lose the associated css and shows up as a plain old web page with no formatting and all the posts are not shown.
@ Kerbcrawler Yeah, noticed that one too - Working on a fix. Its got something to do with the code that I use to ensure that all incoming urls are converted to lowercase Press CTRL + F5, and that should get you back up and running for the moment
Hey Paul, how about a gig list RSS feed, perhaps using a Band/Venue id parameter so us webtypes can re-use your data?
Hi, Paul. I think Crush must be the busiest band on this site, as we seem to have 67,131 CRP points! (is there an "a" missing from the acronym? lol)
@ crush- i'm sure mr nwb will correct me iffen i am mistaken, but... it may be something to do with the fact that you have two identical profiles up and running?? (as for the "crp"- i reckon it's something to do with his "country paul" persona- along the lines of roscoe p. coltraine and boss hogg? " come on now, you pesky dukes-need to get those crp points earned for your release"!!! yee hahh!!) :-)
Hi, Viking. We have only one profile but there are 2 bands called Crush. If you search for Crush, you will find Crush Darwen (us) and Crush Bolton. Somehow C.B's CRP has attached itself to our profile and our picture has somehow been copied onto C.B's profile! weird!
two bands called Crush - one with a CRP total of 67 and one with a total of 133. It happens when you choose the same URL for your NWB site address. You both get the link to the one page. If you don't put a site URL in you all end up on the same page! I'm sure Paul's working on it (amongst other things)!! Keep up the good work Mr NWB Willow
@ crush- hey-is VERY weird??-as willow (big fish) says, perhaps change your url- (i.e-www.northwestbands/crushdarwen or some such) might sort it?? :-)
Ahh... sorted that one - I thought I had made sure that all profiles had a unique profile URL, but obviously not. I've crushed that bug :-)
@ mr nwb - "I've crushed that bug :-)" oh dear, mr nwb-hols not done much for your jokes, then??? groooaan!!! :-P
Thanks, Paul!.....'tis beyond us mere mortals!
Hi, Paul. Just noticed that there are 2 bands called Sly Fox and they look to have the same problem that we had a week or so ago!
Well spottted! - sorted that one out, cheers
Sorry, Paul.....smee again! There's a similar (see above)weird CRP score for "The Abbey Inn" 15 5 5!.....does one receive CRP for diligence?...lol
CANNOT ADD COMMENTS ON TO BLOGS KEEPS COMING UP WITH ERROR ON PAGE?
what's happened to the "playpen", mr nwb? just get a rather techie logo??!! :-/
mr nw hi i cannot log in on my email had to use my partner i registered mine as a venue and never got the password can u or can i change to a venue
@mr nwb-e mail notifications seem to have gone awol again, dude. help????? ;-/
I'm no longer supporting AOL email accounts, their spam policy sucks! You'll need to use a more reliable email client such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, or Live.AOL will probably go bust in a few months anyways. They have it coming.
Ha ha ha, Mr NWB - predicting the decline of businesses since 1999.First dolphin music, now AOL.......get on it folks!! Just don't say anything about Whatever! or ST Photography please.
@ mr nwb- "You'll need to use a more reliable email client such as Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, or Live."or, maybe, just log in every now and again to check?? viking ain't changing his e mail - anyhows-a bit of excercise might do me fingers good!!! :-P
tidy up this blog .......... should be 3 months max
@ mr nwb-well, dude-keep on "no longer supporting aol e mail accounts"- they've started working again!! @ willow-perks of power, dude, perks of power!! lol!!
Hi Paul,When I am posting a blog the cursor disappears, I click where it should be but its invisible, you only know where you are when you start typing againThanksKeith
I can't delete any messages. I tick the email and then click "delete selected" but nothing happens.I'm using IE9 on Windows7.
Just a little thing but whenever I go through my inbox I can never get it to read as "no msgs". It says 30 msgs constantly - even though no msgs are left unread.
Now it says 29...World's longest countdown...
MSG counter is rubber ducked - will get fixed in nwb 3.0
Hi paul, Just noticed, when you click on "back to inbox" on the private messages screen it comes up with a server n/ application errorI know....don't click on it.........Keith
just came up in a post today - the gig guide lists 'tonight's gig' rather than 'today's gig' - meaning a punter turned up for a daytime gig just as the band were leaving the venue
