not really wild, or crazy really but funny as fuck at the time ...

We went across to the Isle of Man gigging for TT week ... 6 of us, 3 in a car and 3 in the front of a tranny van .. parked the car at the ferry up in Scotland and took the van on and 5 foot passengers.

When we returned we all came off the ferry in the van, and got stopped at the exit barrier by the cops ... too many in the van, not allowed to ride in the back etc etc ... no worries said we, just drive round to the car park and we decamp into a car - three in the front of the van, three in the car .... cue dubious looks from copper!

So off we drove through the winding country lanes, the car well behind the van as we stopped for juice ... turned a bend and there's two coppers pulled the van over giving it the once over ... apparently smart arse bobby says, "and what's in the back then ... your drums ..??"! and swooshed the side door open to be confronted with ... equipment!!
We pulled in in front, but cos it was a narrow road we stopped the traffic behind us, just as copper numero 2 was gonna notice a couple of dodgy tyres, three cars back slammed into two cars back ....

"fuck, lets get out of here!" was the call from me in tha car, and we sped off ... the coppers turned to the boys in the van and said, off you go lads we've got a situation here!!

hmmmmmmm ...... never as funny written down is it!!
LOL

Hare Of The Dog at the boulevard, during the encore, a rather well oiled and blessed in the top shelf department lady starts dancing right in front in Steve, i mean right in front of his mic, touching her body all over and gyrating, steves thinking wahey ding dong the perks of a frontman, at the end steve says you had a good nite love she says" yeah buzzin thanks and its all booze tonite, im weaning myself off the class A's now im in drug therapy......"

Heywood a few years ago, i group of chavvy lads, were scufflling all night over at the pool table, starting with one of them trying to walk off with my guitar when we were setting up, steve walked over to find him trying to sell the guitar to one of his mates, later they were pouring pints over each others heads, and trying to hit each other with pool cues, we packed up in 15..... minutes at the end, quickly met up at the nearby Tesco, nearly hit 3 police vans heading to the same pub we had just vacated, and saw about 20 people brawling outside the pub about one minute later........

1) resigned from a band onstage down the microphone..."is there any bassists in? these guys are looking for a new one". Made the rest of the gig a tad frosty. ......

2)told landlady at a gig (i didnt know she was at the time ... thought she was a pisshead!) to "fork off". She was stood in front of singer with her hands over her ears shaking her head.....Ooops when can we have a return booking?

And numerous others where i have been far to close to the microphone when discussing various ladies with our guitarist..... Nothing warms an attractive young barmaid up more than a balding knobhead telling the whole room what he would like to squirt all over her ... lets call em shirt potatoes... Made my attempts at being sophisticated when i went for a beer in the interval sooooooo much harder.... Oh god i cringe even now!

I recall a gig where our singer didn't drink all night.

Uluru in Altrincham, we're gigging (with our girlfriends in the audience) when a bunch of strippers walk in and start dancing right in front of us in the middle of the floor. We're giving it sideways glances and cheeky grins, trying not to upset the girls. At the end of one of the songs one girl comes up to us and gives us each a card with her name written on the back, and says "see you later for a dance" then they all left. Sadly we weren't able to take up her kind offer, maybe next time.

Same place, different gig, this girl physically attached herself to our guitarits right arm and wouldn't let go until he answered the question "where you going later". He's in the middle of a solo and trying to concentrate, I have to walk over and tell her to politely fuck off. Thought she was going to cry.

Same place, different gig yet again, we end a song and the barman comes up to us and says "are you lads parked round the side, because there's a traffic warden round there and he's clamping all the cars". We run out to find all of our cars clamped, £80 a pop to get them removed. The gig actually cost us money!

Purely coincidence that all these things happened at the same venue? Maybe, maybe not.

some of you people will have seen this before-for those of you who haven't here's mine-
We had been asked to play at a wedding party, via a friend of a friend of the bassist, down in deepest, darkest Wales (Llandridrod Wells) at a Social Club there.
Everything was fine for the first set; we even finished on “Need Your Love So bad”, by request of the Bride and Groom, who demonstrated their later plans for each other via dance quite clearly!! Second set started with Atomic Rooster’s “Devil’s Answer”, with a full dance floor, including the Bride. She was joined by a guy (not the groom) and both were boogying away,. Unfortunately, so we learned later, there was “history” between the two and he clearly still carried a torch for her. She, by now, was obviously feeling the effects of the copious amounts of alcohol she had consumed and was dancing in an extremely provocative manner. When he put his hands on her hips and moved in closer there was no objection from the Bride, but the Groom was looking daggers at them It was when the hands went onto her backside that things started to happen. The groom stormed across the dance floor, words were exchanged, then pushes, then punches. As the scuffle got under way various factions of the party took sides and a general melee ensued. I don’t think we helped by playing “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”!!! Then the Police were called and order restored. No charges were pressed, the Bride was led away in tears and the Groom was made to sit down with two large friends by his side to keep him in his seat.
We thought that was the end of it and started to pack our gear away when the Bride’s father came up to us and said “What do you boyo’s think you’re doing? I’m paying you to play at my daughter’s wedding party, look you, so play you will, if you please!! “
So play we did, starting of with a couple of verses of “Give peace a Chance”, which, fortunately, went down well!!
We were very wary about accepting gigs at weddings for quite a while after that!!
