Great night, top venue
The Red Lion is situated at the far end of Church Street (well , at the far end of the main road that runs all through Blackrod) and the first thing that strikes you as you get out of the car is the wonderful view.
The pub is run by Marc from the Hoopleheads who very kindly ensured that there was a clear way for us to get the gear into the pub through the back entrance.
The band set up at the rear of the pub - it's a bit tight for a five piece ( the pub is 'L' shaped and you set up at one end of it ) but we just about managed.
Have to say - it was quite difficult to get a good sound , and I think that we were possibly a little loud in the first set but by the second set everything was fine ( going by comments from punters) and we relaxed a bit and actually tried out a few new songs for the first time.
The audience was a bit more mixed than I'd been led to believe with a lot more of the 'younger end' in than I'd imagined but all in all we seemed to go down well with everyone and we've got a couple more bookings out of it!
Great to see Dave Hill (guitarist with A Pencil and latterly Atlanta Roots )!
