Clone blogs

More stupid clone blogs sending other more interesting and relevant blogs to page 2 and beyond.

..."Oooh, look. Someone's booking for 2011 so we'd all better do it". Seriously, how many responses have you all had? I'll take a guess at none.

Blogs like this should be banned along with:

1. Whats your favourite venue?
2. How much do you charge?
3. Who's your favourite guitarist?
4. Who's your favourite band?
5. What was the first album you bought?
6. What was the first single you bought?
7. What was the first gig you went to?
8. What's the best gig you've been to?
9. What's the best gig you haven't been to?
10. What did you have for breakfast?

I reckon any band taking bookings for 2011 now will have a 75% churn rate (i.e. cancelled gigs) as venues change hands, double book and generally mess bands about.

End of grumble.

Wait, banned is a bit harsh. Maybe pinned so that we only have one blog and not several versions of the same blog. That could work.

although I am one of the culprits (I was taking the p*ss a bit), I totally agree

I'm not finger pointing (we all do it) nor trying to be the blog police, but it would take some of the clutter away. Just having a moan tbf.

Oh and another thing please people stop PMing me and texting me about 2011 booking not even looking at that till nov please!!! And never phone me before 11am about a booking you might be the bested band in the world but its an instant no if you make me talk before 11!!

No one gets to decide Anthem. But I know I would rather read 5 blogs promoting gigs, seeking musicians, reviewing bands than 5 blogs from different bands all seeking bookings for 2011.

Which would you rather see?

Possibly Tex. No denying that. Still think NWB would benefit from less "clutter".

surely advertising availability is relevant? I would rather read some of the amusing stuff than some of the other stuff but, hey.....that's just my opinion which is 100% relevant to your original post is it not?

@ST | Whatever! & Smokin' Monkey, but I think the site would be very dull without the craick and idle humorous banter that goes on, would that too be considered clutter? I sure hope not!! ;-) Tex

Advertising availability is relevant of course. X band is available on dates Y and Z. But X band is now taking bookings for 2011? Come on!! That's the equivalent of Tesco taking out an advert to say "We sell stuff".

My original blog was about clone threads. I have no issue with "the craic", but everything in proportion. Let's have a laugh, but let's not forget what the core purpose of the site is.

I have never got a gig by advertising availability on here. Hell, I pulled our gig guide because it takes too much time to complete and nobody uses it.

what if youve only been on here about 2 or 3 months - then these blogs are new!!! If youve answered similar ones inthe past can't you just ignore them; they only take up about 6" squared of screen space!!
Friday night down the pub is the same questions and debates week in week out but i still go!!!!

@Jez C - hence the reason I suggested they be pinned, not banned. I'm not completely unreasonable ;o)

@ST I suppose you could!! (to be honest i didnt see the comment about pinned posts - i know.. its the first one!!!
To be honest, when i 1st saw the list I thought it was my "old list of chat up questions" for the "ten to two stragglers/leftover birds" in Jillys from years back!
I would never suggest you were unreasonable :0)

@jez c-"To be honest, when i 1st saw the list I thought it was my "old list of chat up questions" for the "ten to two stragglers/leftover birds" in Jillys from years back!"
except that "number 10" is "what do you want me to cook you for breakfast?" ;-P

I find it a little tedious to read mulitiple blogs promoting the same gig -early call for/ then another / then last call for etc, I dont take seriously gushing reviews and rapturous accounts of gigs by the band, or people who are obviously connected with the band, serious reviewers like Viking and Ian from the Kerbcrawlers are always a pleasure to read, on a positive note most people on here are on the whole pretty good compared to a lot of forums, the Boltonmusic collective for example is simply juvinile name calling, the degree of leeway for opinion on NWB is pretty good without being overmoderated
