Johnny Allen, AKA James Marshall Hendrix RIP and thank you. Voodoo chile tonight will be poignant.

All the debates about who was the greatest pale when you listen to somone who could play someone as sublime and beautifull as "little wing" and as agressive as "Voodoo Chile"

"If I don't meet you no more in this world then
I'll meet ya on the next one
And don't be late"

Legendary is a really overused word, but that's the only possible description of Hendrix's impact on music. Aspiring young guitarists still look at his work in sheer awe today, and to be influencing people 4 decades after his death is the mark of the man. Viva Jimi.

"band of gypsies" and "electric ladyland" were two of my most treasured posessions, music wise. "machine gun" is both a superb political statement and a masterclass in how a band hits the peak of perfection in sync, power and delivery.
Legend, indeed. r.i.p. dude (RAWWK in perpetuity). hell yeah. ;-/

and, of course, he gave us one of the best ever lines in rock-"move over, rover, and let jimi take over"-CLASS!!!

The most inspirational guitarist not only of his generation, but every generation since. Catch you at a gig in the world beyond this one man.

can't dispute the effect he has had on guitar playing in general but to be honest, never been my cup of tea sorry.

A great punctuation point in the history of the guitar.

His rhythm playing is FAR more important than his lead work IMO.

Bryn Howarth the guitarist with the band America (and Darwen lad) told the story a couple of years ago of when he was playing one night in London. It was in one of those venues where musos used to go after their gigs for a late drink. Musos would often pop in and end up jamming with the house band which included Bryn. One night Hendrix walked in and Bryn said to Jimi during a break that he would love him to join the band on stage but nobody had a left handed guitar. Hendrix said "no problem, I'll play a right handed one". You can guess the rest...... According to Bryn the whole room watched in awe as Hendrix was head and shoulders above everyone else even playing the guitar upside down!
