A Belated review.
Our third outing at The King Edward VII in Blackpool brought a bit of a mixed night for us. First of all we were hoping for a rocking night to follow Friday at The Wellington in Dalton (on our home turf) which was an absolute STONKER.
So, we were a bit disappointed to say the least when at 9pm it was only a third full. Fortunately it filled up to about half full before we kicked off at 9.30 with Van Halen`s Poundcake, to rapturous...silence. Like Harold Shipmans waiting room.
...Oh shit, never mind,carry on....Muse - Starlight....met with silence/muted applause.
....Oh shit,carry on...Audioslave-Cochise... sudden uproar!!
Thankfully a few fans had piled in and were decidedly more vocal in their appreciation, which seemed to encourage the rest of the crowd to let go and enjoy themselves.
Aaaaanyway, long story short, ended up being a good night considering there were many great bands on in Blackpool on sat to choose from, and it was peeing down.
Oh ..apart from the drunken tosser who climbed on stage all over our guitarists pedals /wires asking for U2 stuff only to be politely asked to get off the fuckin stage, then to take the hump and slag us off at volume (we were crap /rubbish etc. etc.) before staggering out into the night air. Thought he was going to get violent actually, but never mind eh ?
Lastly, there was little or no interaction with the management/barstaff, so not sure what the score is for live music in the future at this venue. Word is that the writings on the wall, and it`s a real shame.
On the whole, we`ve had better nights, but a big thanks to those who ventured out to see us.
p.s. I guess it does you good to be told you are shit now and again. A real leveller haha.
