Whilst discussing examples of foul language in Rock...

Randomly browsing the net tonight...have no idea who wrote this but it made me piss:

"I caught parts of Pudstock in Ramsbottom last week; - local bands playing off a wagon behind the pub which was hosting the Official World Black Pudding Throwing Championship.

First up was a most enjoyable set from a Bury band called The Sugar Bullets, a classic punk juke box from 3 blokes old enough to know better. Great stuff throughout, including a spot-on version of Blitzkreig Bop, where I just about withstood the urge to shout "Tune!" and point out that they don't write them like that any more

When they started I wondered whether they'd pay tribute to punk band swearing but decided that they probably wouldn't as it was early afternoon with a family audience present. Anyway about 4 numbers into the set they played Eton Rifles and yer man quite clearly sang the opening line "Fuck off your beer and collect your fags"

Nicely done, I thought"

LOL...could be one to discuss here.

And the vid...

Sup up yer beer / fuck off your beer - with my hearing now Dean I couldn't tell them apart but yep, that's funny. Perhaps all our singers should change a few words this weekend and see if anyone notices.

The other week at the Johnny Meerkat gig, lead singer Graham changed the words at the end of a kaiser chiefs song (whilst pointing at me, so all the fekkin pub where looking at me giving him the V sign and telling him to Fekk off) to .... "Rick get on a diet, Rick get on a diet, Rick get on a diet" - barsteward, but it did get a laugh and I can laugh at myself, as anyone who knows me er ..... knows, lol,

Rick.

Now that is real prep work before posting a blog....to have the video as well! I love the way that the audience goes into a wild frenzy at 2:48 - lol

Nicely done though and the singer sends out the right signals. Will catch the band sometime.

You mean I've been playing this song for 3 years solid and genuinely thought it was 'fuck off your beer' all this time...

Haha 'Rick get on a diet' PMSL...I've been hearing very good things about Graham and JM recently which is why I will definitely be in the Rose & Crown this Sat filling myself with ale whether I've gotten over this manflu or not...and within crawling distance of home I feel a messy night comin' on.

Cottonhouse
Having the vid is just a pure coincidence, singers Mrs did a few on the day.
The 'audience' thing was a running joke afterwards...my mate took this photo at such an angle that it cut off the 100 or so people stood behind the crazy dude...we opened the event, a few hours later that whole area was rammed....you gotta laugh though lol

BTW - ur in for a treat with JM on sat!

@Gary - Absolutely, but not live.

@Karen - was that the Ainsworth day up at Redbridge pub? Did a band called New Age Addiction play & if so did you see em?
You'd be surprised just how 'little' room we had up there, my back was literally against the back of the truck and the other 2 had little room to bounce around with all the electrics/monitors scattered everywhere. Still...a good event to be involved in.

@ST - Its funny whenever Phil our singer throws in the odd swear word usually whilst introducing a song, especially if its a place we've never played before which is usually met by some audience reaction as if to say "you can't say that"...err yes we fuckin can as the intro to 'Too Drunk to Fuck' plays...

@Graham - will defo be there on Sat, I'll be the short fat one talking bollocks no doubt.

@Al
That kit above isn't mine...I'm a TAMA man, the Mapex I used sounded great no arguments there. However, if DW ever wanted to endorse me with a custom kit I'd be much obliged.

As it happens some guy coincidently named Al is fitting me with one tonight, but not before losing my rag with the sheeple on the M60 on their way to the Trafford Center to watch the Xmas lights being turned on by some gimp from last year's X Factor...or will you be there too? lol

I've had a chat with that singer about this and he maintains that he would never stoop so low as use foul language on stage. Unless he really felt like it. He would also like to point out that there is absolutely no truth in the rumour that he can't be @rsed learning the words to the songs or that he has a nasty habit of making them up as he goes along. Also, on no occasion has he ever lapsed into Vic Reeves style pub singing to get him out of a tight spot. Definitely not.

He would, however, like to go on record as saying whichever c**t f*cking well f***ing said that he comes from f***ing Bury wants f***ing well shooting.

He's a nice chap really, though.

He's a cheeky t**t lol...needs to remember the two other Bullets are from the Bury area(ish) although t'other one prob wouldn't admit to it either! I could say we were from Preston if he actually got us some gigs over that way.

Ta
Dean

PS. Maybe Phil needs to sign up here get involved & help maintain the Dresden/Bullets fort instead of lurking in the background. I'll work on him tomorrow.
