Onwards and upwards

It's old news now that Aiden decided to leave Whatever and we wish him all the best with No Boundarys. It was less common knowledge that Chris also decided to hang up his mic at the same time (for personal reasons) and we wish him all the best too.

Mark and I spoke about our options and decided to keep Whatever! going. In all honesty, we have been extremely fortunate in that we found a fantastic new guitarist with relative ease, and we have a good friend standing in for us on vocals until we can secure the services of somebody more permanent.

With that, I am pleased to introduce ex-Roadrunners guitarist Ian James on guitar and somebody I'm sure you are all familiar with - Ben Murray (previously of The Fix) on vocals. Ian came highly recommended by several people on NWB and is fitting in extremely well personally and musically after only a few practices. There's not much that can be said about Ben that hasn't been said already. He's done it all before with The Fix and depping for Kingpin.

Our gig list has been updated. We are confirming all gigs and we look forward to seeing some NWBers at our upcoming gigs. I'm sure you're all as intrigued as we are to see how it goes! Also, a belated thank you for the messages and words of encouragement.

If you are a venue, we are taking bookings for the remainder of 2010 and into 2011. Please send me a PM or e-mail me on contact.whatever@googlemail.com.

Many thanks
Asa

Thanks Gary. Big changes indeed, but we're keeping Teenage Kicks in the set lol :o)

ASA....don't get me started.
Just thinking though, this is an ideal oportunity for 'any' band to freshen things up a bit and bring in new material. Don't stand still, don't keep songs like Teenage Kicks and Right to Party...etc.
These don't impress anyone, learn some new tunes.....Don't be followers....be leaders.

Gary. You're absolutely right. However, it's a fine line. Whatever! are know for exactly these types of tunes in the same way that LGIT are the ultimate classic punk experience. That said, it has not been overlooked that this is an ideal opportunity to freshen things up, so whilst we have learned the core of our usual set, we are also considering new tunes.

Nice catch.

Thanks Kerbcrawlers. That is an understatement. For a guy who by his own admission had not picked up his guitar for 5 years, we were blown away.

Top bloke too. Tells it like it is. No messing.

Understood mate, all the best.
How about 'Wide Open Spaces' by Mansun...or 'Oblivion' by Terrorvision.
