I think.....

That this site is waivering / going down Hill ,Or is it the people/Bands on here ? whicever way you wanna put it !

Theres no crack anymore , no banter , everyones out for what they can get ,yep inc ourselves there before i get a backlash ,
Certainly not as it was anyway !

Trig , not the band , just my opinion

Am i alone in thinkin this ?

Only just recently have i thought this Esp when i got Nearly zero fuckin response from uncharitable people / Bands, as such i now know where i stand for future events that i was planning for next year,
GROAN !
No Trig not another charity ! I hear you say !
No
A mini festival

new to the site really so not sure how it is now compared to the past but it seems to me that there is a real nucleus of bands, venues and fans who use the site day in day out as a social medium helping others out as well as contributing to topics and having a laugh too.

there are clearly those only using it as a tool to further their own interests but there does seem to still be that core looking out for each other with advice and passing on leads for gigs, helping out venues who have had a band cancel on them etc. I know that I am looking to be part of that community side of the site and hopefully others will follow suit and help it to grow again and become what the longer serving nwb members know it can be.

cheers

In the short time I've been on here we've got a lot out of it as a band - booked our first gig and had a few promising leads for instance.

I could have done that by just replying to the Bands Wanted posts. But it's been far more enjoyable for me to get involved in discussions and take them forward where I can and just have a laugh where I can't. I'm in a band for the fun of it (maybe a little naively) but I see stuff like this as an extension of that fun. I look forward to being one of the experienced guys who can give out the advice though!

To be fair Trig the last charity event was a bit short notice. I couldn't do anything as I had pre arranged family commitments but usually we'll do our bit. Give us details of next years events and we'll happily contribute.

Just had a look at your old posts - sorry I missed that post. Only just becoming a daily user.

In future though if you repeat an event like thus, it is something we'd be honoured to be part of - such a worthy cause. Hope it went well anyway mate.

Well £3000+ is an outstanding achievement... and you are right to put this blog up - sometimes people need a nudge to remember the truth of your above comments.

I only come on here fer the crack n the banter really but have to agree to some extent, some like the mindless crack and banter some are more seriously minded, but hey, we are all individuals ;-)
As fer charities we do our fair share as a band which we, like you, organise ourselves, which takes some doing (usually around 6-8 bands per gig involved)and raise some serious dough for Macmillan Nurses every year.

To be fair, it does always seem to be the same 'core' of people who post blogs and comments, and try to get topics moving/support each other/get events organised, while a lot of people watch from the sideline, but that's probably true of most communities isn't it?
It's just a shame that they don't jump in, 'cos not only is the water fine, but we have a good laugh spalshing about!
On the charity front, keep going mate - your work is brilliant and people will help when and as they can.

Trig
Wonderful effort raising the £3000. I am as guilty as the others for not posting a good luck or well done. There is no excuse for that when people are putting in the effort like you do. We are hoping to get a charity day sorted at the Beaumont next year and i hope the lack of response will not put you off continuing with all your good work. I personally would like to se a section on here like the gig guide for charity nights and days so all the info is in one place and bands can offer their services etc without trawling through all the everyday posts and possibly missing something.
Keep up the good work

@ idle promise

I think the charity gigs sounds like a great idea - will help to make sure people don't miss them - or at least have less of a chance of missing them, either as a performer offering their services or as a punter paying the cash
