Would you delete all photos/videos/links etc. of previous line ups?

Bit misleading eh...

Over the last few years we've built up tonnes of photos, videos, links on external websites I've now forgotten what & where they are - but a lot of them are out-of-date back when we were a 5 and 4 piece.....but is this now misleading to venues and punters alike?

Example - we had a guy come up to us on Sunday at the Talbot confused why there was only 3 of us...he'd been looking at our Facebook page and seen loads of pics of us when Gaz was our singer as a 4-piece. Same with Youtube - all our 'old' videos are still up and I love watching them from time to time BUT is doesn't exactly give an accurate picture of the Sugar Bullets does it? I've always maintained IMO the current line-up is the best I've played n.

Just seems a shame to delete loads of memories and good times with old line-ups...or is it out with the old in with the new...what ya reckon?

Keep the good times for personal reflection mate, but give the venues and punters as close as you can to what they're gonna get.
That's my policy anyway! :)

Easy ..... make sure all references to past line ups are marked as exactly that!
to have someone look at a website / pictures/mp3s etc etc which portray "The Sugar Bullets" means that's what they'll expect.
Control all your output and if it means a bit of hard work (i.e. an afternoon) to make sure everything points to the right place ............................ DO IT!

i.e. don't be lazy and expect the punter to know where you're at!!!!

edit : unless you're past line ups are better than now and you want to bring in the crowds!! :0)

If i were you, id get rid of them of the networking sites, but defiantly keep them on your computer for your own enjoyment, this is what we have dome anyway. It was only the other day i came across a video of one of our first ever performances, great memories!
And if you do decide to keep them up on the net, then make sure you label them as an old line-up! (just like Willow has stated).

Good luck,
Neal :)

"Photo archive" and put the date next to the pic. Your current line up should be at the top and say 'current line up'.

I've just updated our web site and 'removed' a lot of 'old' pictures that are no longer relevant to the future, if that makes sense...!!!!
But your history is important, it's how you got to where you are now.....Suggest you create an 'archive' section for your old photos/videos etc...I'm sure your old bandmates still look back on their time with the band with pride and would appreciate the gesture.....and I believe you've 'updated' your posters, Facebook etc accordingly.
I know our old drummer still keeps tabs on us from abroad, he'd be upset if I wrote him out of our history.....

The main problem is youtube, as anybody can use their phone to film clips nowadays and chuck em up there. It becomes a very long and tiresome process trying to contact every single person who has uploaded a video to get them to change to title to "old lineup".
I think as long as you're official pages, ie myspace/facebook/homepage reflect the current lineup and current media, then that's all the venues will be mainly concerned with.

Cheers guys, looks like I'll have to sift through all our old photos etc and as you say 'archive' them. I know Gaz our previous singer still looks through them all because he changes his Facebook profile pic every so often using pics from when he was with us...bless him.

It's bloody time consuming keeping all these networking sites up to date..FB, Myspace, Twitter etc - gonna have a proper sort out make sure its clear who the Sugar Bullets are and what people are getting.

We're currently in the process of building the official Sugar Bullets website - www.thesugarbullets.co.uk - it's not live yet but when it is the aim is to keep it minimalistic and to the point. After that we'll just be concentrating on the new site & updating our FB page...Myspace can go kiss my arse, they've royally f****d up with this new layout.

Cheers for all your input guys much appreciated,
Dean.

When I leave I want you to open a book of remembrance. Or maybe a wanted poster. Actually, I'm a bit nervous. You and Mike seem to go through band members like there's no tomorrow. You haven't got a newly laid patio that the police should be having a look underneath have you Deano? I feel like a Spinal Tap drummer..."tell my mum I love her- I've joined the Sugar Bullets!"

It maybe easier to just have one site that you continuously have up to date, and stick the link on your flyers and cards. When you do a gig or book one, send or give them the latest info. Go on you tube and update the comments. If they are really old clips, maybe no one else will add further comments, messing up your updated information. There probably isn't an easy way to do it. Your history is your history, and as inconvenient as it is for someone to think you're still a five piece or what ever, surely you wouldn't want it all wiped out.

Anyway, I saw you last week at the Old Market Tavern, and I can't see any self respecting publican who knows his music having anything to complain about. :)

L8trs mate....
