Taking ill during a gig

Have you ever get to the point where you just can't continue?

Hey guys/gals
Interested to here some of your stories over the years.
We played at the pub in Lancaster last night and towards the end of the first set I got a migraine. Too be honest, I would have quite happily finished the gig at the break, but didn't want to let the guys in the band or the venue down.
So I played the second set, but anyone who gets migraines will know, it completely knocks you for six. My vision was blurred at times, nearly barfed a couple of times and towards the end, was struggling to keep my balance.
Still, chuffed that I managed to finish the show, but it was the longest second set of my life lol
But as the great Freddie mercury said, the show must go on.

Have any of you guys ever got to the point where you just can't go on?

Cheers

Scott

Well you masked it really well mate, cheers for sticking it out.
I remember doing a gig with Smooth in irlam whilst having runs, a group of chav punters were nasty towards us early on too, the bogs were being used a "powder" room; a nightmare from start to end.

Did one with piggery coupla years ago with a storming viral flu. I was stood outside in the snow in just a t shirt pissing with sweat before we hit the stage! Had a bank of stage lights right in my face and was pouring throughout the first set. Had to call it quits 4 songs into 2nd set as my arms started really cramping up. Went home to bed and didn't surface for 8 days. That one was nasty.

I was on tour when I caught mumps. We didn't cancel any dates, but I do remember feeling like s**t, and spent most of the time lying down in the dressing rooms (the best cure for illness is to be self-employed).

Not recently but alooooooong time ago I was in a band doing a xmas eve gig quite close to us. All the band were suffering from a bout / bug of man flu. We had set up in the afternoon andas the day wore on felt more and more like shite. Piled in the Parcetamol and did the gig, suffice to say we so flaked welay on the stage whilst the curtain was drawn in between sets...

Almost a year ago now, think it was the Friday before Crimbo we (Big W) had a gig at the Fleece in Ashton. Hadn't felt to good a work in the day but put it down to 'man flu' and went out the the gig. I was feckin frezzin all night and drummed the whole gig in my hoody and fleece! No idea how i got through the gig, or got home after that. I remember getting brews to drink (coffee no milk - horrible) just to try and warm up!
Following on from that i was in bed until the 2nd week in January. Struck down with real full blown flu (i will never say a cold is flu again!). Lost a stone in weight, had no Crimbo dinner, nothing.

Heres to a good un this year!!!!
