Regarding songs performed by local bands

Mine are as follows
1 Dakota - Still in Love with You At the Banner NWB Charity Day 26 December 09 I know it was just in last year but I had to include it. A fantastic song superbly performed with wonderful vocals from Trig
2 Johnny Meerkat - Somebody Told Me at the Beaumont Arms 27 November 2010 A great opening song which sums up everything that is to come from the band for the rest of the night
3. SKP - Black and Gold at the Hulton Arms August Bank Holiday Monday performed as part of Alecs Charity Day. Fantastic keyboards from Paul Holt backed up by the superb Karen and Scott Johnson.

What are yours

1. Times like these = Johnny Meerkat.....sounded top when i heard it.
2. Love Shack = Kingpin...hate the tune but the guys did it really well.
3. Local Boy in the photograph = Whatever. Being the whatever founder i saw the new line up last week to see how it looked and sounded from the other side and they played and sang this one brilliantly.

Personally I could come up with a best song for EVERY band I've seen, but if I've got to narrow it down, you're going to have to let me have 3 and a cheat!

1. Phoenix - Slither by Velvet Revolver. I hadn't heard the track before and it blew me away and I am now a major VR fan!

2. Johnny Meerkat - Oblivion by terrorvision. This is an absolute cracker of a song, but I've never heard anyone else cover it.

3. Sabre - (Don't Fear) The Reaper. One of my all time favourite tracks by one of my all time favourite bands played flawlessly.

3 and a cheat. Everything by the sadly defunct theBigFish, but luckily someBigFish are shaping up as a worthy successor!

But big respect to EVERYBODY out there with the balls to get up and play - I think we tend to forget how much nerve it takes.

And thanks for the votes for Kingpin (apart from the drummer etc etc yaddah, yaddah, yaddah).

Like AYP said, Too many to pick from, BUT if it has to be THREE, then …

BoneYard Dogs – Rocking In The Free World. – I applauded half way through because of their arrangement of this Classic – Well done Col and the boys.

Dean Casement Trio – Purple Rain – Deano sings and plays with massive feeling and this is the best song I’ve ever witnessed from any NWB trio/Band/Group – FANTASTIC.

TheBigFish – Fisherman’s Blues – First time I heard the band play this, it was instantly my favourite and what a shame the full line up are no longer together.

To all the other SIXTY THREE BANDS I’ve watched off this site, Thank You for the entertainment that you have brought to me and Anne over the past three years. You know who you are,

Love and Best Wishes,

Rick & Anne, x

My three highlights for 2010 would be:

1. Kingpin ft Ben Murray at Styal Beer Festival - the lads dug me out of a proper hole and delievered a top performance.
2. TheBigFish at The Royal Oak - Willow is stil my favourite NWB blogger.
3. Last Gang In Town at The Colliers Arms - I don't like punk, but this band are the genuine article...quality, quality, quality.

And my (selfish) cheat....the moment I realised that Whatever! would be carrying on with new recruits Ian James and Ben Murray. It's been a rollercoaster year but I'm glad we're ending it on a high.

Thank you to all the bands I've seen. Keep doing what you're doing and here's to a fantastic 2011 for all of us.

Most memorable moments of 2010....

There have been many, too many.....I've seen some cracking bands and met some great people from NWB land this year.....it's been a pleasure.....My Top 3 Moments.....

1. Whatever at The Woodlands in Warrington.
After much piss taking and wind ups I went to see Whatever and meet the lads.....great bunch of lads, even ST !!!
The incident with the Barbie & the lost shoe still makes me chuckle (you had to be there)

2. Hare of the Dog (Unplugged) at the Hindley Arms.
The lads were playing away and I shouted ''play some Punk you twats...''
So they went straight into Teenage Bastard Kicks to wind me up....
I walked outside in disgust and the bastards followed me into the street, still playing. I picked up the 'fag ends' bucket and gestured to throw it at Steve who ran back into the pub with me chasing him whilst Grooveman just stood on the door step playing on regardless.....Dave (Landlord) thought I was really gonna throw it over him....classic.

3. Glam 69 playing 'Hey Rock 'n' Roll' by Showaddywaddy and dedicating it to me.....this band just make me smile, a real feel good factor to them

Oh and one extra, Guns OR Roses playing the Norton Arms in Runcorn, opening with 'You know where you are, you're in the Fucking Jungle baby.....'
And yes they were, as I spent the rest of the night as stage security for them.....absolute nut house.....great gig though.

Here's to many more in 2011.....

Ha ha Skip - you can have that one!! It was the look filled with equal measures of contempt and complete disinterest and far more disturbing than anything yourself and Tex could throw at me! Luckily by the end of the night we were all enjoying each others company.

Gary - thank you for your kind words. I don't care what everyone else says about you, I think you're ok. I say ok....I mean tolerable ;o)

Deffo another one.

First time seeing Burly Chassis.....real wow what thr f*ck moment.

Phoenix playing Rockbottom at Mr NWB' Wedding.
