Cover Song Suggestions

Put it to the people

We've been having a chat about what songs to work on this year as we tend to lean toward the songs that, for the most part, that other bands on the circuit don't do, hence the absence of AC/DC songs from our set as we also believe that others do DC better than we would. If you've ever seen us then you'll know what I mean. I can do a mean Dickinson and Halford but Scott & Johnson isn't my bag.

With this in mind we're looking for song suggestions that you'd like to hear us do. What songs do you think are popular enough but no one on the circuit seems to do them?

It's going to be interesting to hear your responses.

you should delete this thread now, as every other band will have seen it, and they'll all start doing it, taking advantage of my limitless rock knowledge :o)
PS Don't forget my drinks!
PPS Any other band want some new songs whilst I'm on??

Thought she might be (funded that is)
OK...a second tune for you, that I'd love to see a band do....
Let there be rock (tour)...by.......The Drive By Truckers from the Southen Rock Opera album.
We play this before we go on (when we do disco as well) and people love it...even if they don't know it, they'll ask what it is

hokayyy-how about "mistreated", deep purple, as a first set number, bit slower, but with power and substance, just the thing to get your larynx warmed up, and "we rock", dio-had quite a bit of airplay on rock radio, so the rock fraternity will recognise it? :-)

Dio numbers have been mentioned and as we write Gav and Rab have both e mailed suggesting Cold Sweat by Lizzy which is probably a goer

We have had the dio conversation so many times Viking! You know i can do it, the lads know i can do it but we never settle on one. I suggested Stand Up & Shout as a potential set opener and not one of th Pack came back with a yay or a ny, than means "fook off nidge we're not doing it!" ha ha

OOh no Hindley Arms!! We pride ourselves in not going down the DC route, we like to give people a week off DC to appreciate the many other fine songs out there. Occasinaly we do Highway but that's it.

When there's so many good DC bands out there wots wrong with a band that plays Maiden & Priest songs better than they do DC? You'll see what we mean when we come to your place guys....Tape up the windows as I can hit those Rob Halford high notes ;-)

nidge-"When there's so many good DC bands out there wots wrong with a band that plays Maiden & Priest songs better than they do DC?"- absolutely nothing wrong at all-in fact, in my view, makes a refreshing change. there's nothing more enjoyable than seeing rosie "rocking out" to "rosie", but a change is as good as .....??
what's the situation with gav and co trying out some of those numbers you mentioned a monthor two back, the ones from the ep?

He';s not up to it mate, they sent him home from work today as he couldn't stand at his work bench. Lads in a really bad way but even if he has to sit on a stool we'll see you @ Cricketers ;-)

if i could chuck my twopenneth in... i would love to see a band have a shot at the 'Blackcrowes' "seeing things for the first time" might be a little too obscure and perhaps not a crowd pleaser, but a fantastic tune nontheless.
Also i dont think many bands do the Who's behind blue eyes... we might give that a shot..

Good call !!!
Whilst they are excellent songs they are not really Wolfpack type of songs but I do love The Who...baba oreily has been suggested by me on more than one occasion.

Anything from Judas Priest's 'Painkiller' album will do me. 'Hell Patrol' would be a belter..
Van Halen's 'Somebody Get Me A Doctor' and 'Outta Love Again' are superb..

Gav has just suggested, by e mail, Sabbath's CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE. Now that could be well tasty! I can do that and no one else on the circuit does it!

We are in need of the set list overhaul ..... so you learn the new ones but then yr not allowed to drop the old 'faves' ....... also finding classic rock lyrics that dont involve 'got a hard knob want to stick it in yr gob' are difficult to find ...we have to have a bit of integrity...dont we??? .....now i must get back to my Shakespeare sonnets !!!

You guys will find it even harder Ian, particularly as you'll not be allowed to drop the DC numbers. We get it all the time, no mateer how well we go down the chants of "play some DC" never end! We try not to go there but a blast of Highway sometimes suffices!

I KNOW Nidge !!! but its more of the simple throwaway stuff like Lick it up and Breaking the law stuff ....it makes you want to go out and learn that 4th chord !!!
